Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Why Sprint got such bad rep in the first place!!?
Quote from freddiez :
Yes, there are regions where Sprint is unusable, but where it's good it's very good.
Nationwide! Even a broken analog clock is right twice a day. Sprint also says they have shitty coverage https://gizmodo.com/1829401148

Any tablets supported or not listed but still compatible?
Not one tablet has ever been reported activated on the free plan.
It never was possible.

You can add them but it will be on a regular paid basis.

Fyi my free year was up so I had switched 3 lines out to MetroPCS and Ting (2 months ago). Was surprised to get a call on my now-with-Metro line from Sprint Retention a day after porting! Rep offered me $250 in statement credits per line =$750 to come back on regular Sprint plan. That seemed attractive enough so gave the go ahead. Unfortunately, the rep and I subsequently found out that since Ting is a Sprint mvno, 2 of my 3 lines I had ported out to Ting were not eligible for the credit. Only the one with Metro would get it. Looking back, should have read this thread's wiki more carefully before porting out. Main thing here I was offered $250 credits per line.
Yes you should have ported the numbers to TMO Prepaid first.
The phones do not have to be compatible with TMO or GSM.
Ask if you can do it over!

The article and you are misquoting them.

Not everybody travels around the country every day.

Sprint's bad rep comes from their shitty nationwide coverage

I paid and got BYOD SIM card for my Samsung phone. Now I am trying to activate it for iPhone 6s, and the rep said, I have to get a different BYOD SIM now.

I told him, I can activate the current SIM on Samsung and later switch the activated sim to iPhone. But he says, that I can't change the phone once activated for one year free term.

Can someone confirm, if both these are true?
i can confirm...you havent read the wiki.

Plus revenge-seekers and underdog-kickers.
Nobody claimed Sprint was number one.
They are a disastrous choice in some areas and an excellent one in many others for the cost-conscious or those who want to make their own trade-offs.

You would not need a new number in any scenario. I do not think you have worked through all possibilities. You can move numbers around and swap them etc. however you want - they never are a factor. Nothing goes by the number. Some things do go by SSN.

By the way SWAC is now 50 GB hotspot in the base plan (100 GB in the higher level plan).

SWAC is better than anything you would get from Retentions. Also if you call Retentions yourself you get lousy offers. You have to wait for them to call you to get anything worthwhile. Or get good at "social engineering" in an ongoing series of calls. If you want to reach them ,just ask for "Cancellations" on the phone.

SWAC plans get upgraded over time, even for existing users, whereas Retention plans will be frozen and become inferior and obsolete eventually.

For the benefit of others reading this, SWAC is described at
https://www.sprint.com/en/shop/swac
https://www.sprint.com/content/da...%20mgh.pdf [sprint.com]
BUT you need an employee referral (try on reddit or search Slickdeals as there was one thread earlier).
Ok, SWAC is what I really want. So I need to port out for 45 days? Is that the only option?

I am not understanding. I don't have another SSN to use, just mine. I don't have another number to use. If I want to do it that way, with my SSN and number, then what are my options. I appreciate any response.

Ok you do understand it well then - I was not sure - sorry.

There is one other possibility. Sprint employees can give out a limited number of SWAC conversion referrals per year - namely five. Those can be done as upgrades. It is very hard to get one of these but should be possible - bribe someone! I am thinking of doing that.

Otherwise, you could use Teltik for 60 days if you have a business tie-in (they are fexible) and your phone can run on TMobile. They are reasonably priced and you get a TMO business plan. Actually those plans are very attractive too and you may be tempted by them..

Something odd seems to have happened with my sign up from earlier today. My phone line still hasn't been activated, I signed up via the number in the wiki earlier this afternoon. Received my Successful port in sprint email at 7:45pm. I have chatted with Sprint tech, they keep insisting they can't help me. Twice with two different chats reps said I have "Boost", a prepaid account. They said to call Boost during their hours because it's a "privileged account they cannot access".
I told them it is not. Still on chat now as they "research".

Chat reps know nothing of this plan and can't help, and you chance of being put on paid plan. What does freecarrierlookup say? This checks if port is at sprint or tmobile. Also what phone are you trying to activate.

Thanks, got it. Will call Sprint up tomorrow then. Any particular number for tech help?
Sprint emailed me earlier saying the port was complete. Frecarrierlookup says Sprint. I am using an iPhone 10.

You can try some of these but usually only help with LTE/data problems. I'll defer to comintel about best number to call.

#3 has helped with H2O customers and Att customers.
1-Reset Subscriber Settings (Carrier Reset)
Go to dial pad as though you're about to dial a phone number
Enter # # 25327 #
Tap Call
A "Reset Subscriber Settings" message will appear - tap OK
Wait 5-10 seconds; the signal notification will display "Searching" on the top left of the screen
When the phone shows a signal again, the phone is ready to use

2-Service Update (Profile & PRL Update)
Connect to a Wi-Fi network
Tap the phone app
Dial # # 873283 #
Tap Call
"Starting Service Update" message will appear - tap OK
If update is successful "Service Update Complete" message will appear after about a minute - tap OK

3-Check for an old LTE APN profile and delete it.
The problem was due to a Profile named "LTE APN". (Settings>General>Profiles - Right below "VPN". There may not be "Profile" on the Menu, depending on the carrier used before.). Deleted this Profile, then LTE Data signal showed up! This Profile was probably from the previous carrier.
