Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

(1) Even still it probably would not work because the lease agreement probably includes a service credit the value of which is used to get the end price quoted. That will be cancelled if you cancel the agreement.

(2) Ah you are right up to date on the technical side. However you may have to activate it on Verizon to get it unlocked I believe, and they charge for that activation. Someone else was talking about doing that though. But check the exact Verizon deal terms. Best look for a thread of people doing this.
ParenegadeGot it. It seems the best option would get a friend to open a line, pay off the phone, cancel the line and move it over?

Here's another question...if I just buy the Verizon S9+ shouldn't I be able to port that over? Since it now has Samsung BYOD support as of November 9th?
I hesitate to write this post because I don't want to cause problems for those who are not technically inclined. But when I see people gambling on Verizon or Sprint phones because of price I am offering my thoughts, which should be taken with the appropriate grains of salt.

With the Verizon version of the Samsung, if you can wade through the maze of obstacles, you'll save some money over the unlocked Samsung, but that doesn't guarantee that you'll have all he Sprint features. With the Sprint version, you'll have the Sprint features, but you won't save any money over the unlocked Samsung and it's questionable whether or not you'll end up with the free BYOD plan.

The alternative for those of you wanting the Samsung S9, S9+ is to buy the unlocked version. It is more expensive than the Verizon deal and less expensive than the Sprint deal. While it does not officially support Sprint features such as Visual VoiceMail and Calling Plus, it can be made to support these features. Visual VoiceMail is downloadable and, Calling Plus, is on the way out, meaning it is being phased out, via Sprint updates. It can however be enabled as described here.

For students, educators and such, you can use the Samsung.com discounts. For other people consider B&H photo with no sales tax.

We only used my dad's ssn when we signed up on sprint. So I'd planned on buying the phones and using my ssn to switch back to sprint. Which if I'm understanding correctly would mean we wouldn't have to wait 45 days and we could switch back immediately after I paid off the Verizon phones.

If it was just your dad's ssn #... then either you could sign up for multiple lines and get everyone on... or each of you could sign up on your own with individual credit checks.

In any case... your dad would experience problems if he signed you all up like he did before.

It's hard to say what would happen in your instance. Call the special Sprint 877 number listed in the header of this post and explain the situation and see what they say. They know all about the qualifications for this deal and seem to be shooting fairly straight with customers on this.

In my experience... it sounds like what you want to do would work fine. Might take a few weeks and this promo can end at anytime... but should work if still active.

A lot of your points are good.

However, Samsung just released brand switching for S9/S9+.

So now, you can switch any carrier-branded model (for example Verizon) (that is unlocked) to any other brand ROM just by inserting a Sprint sim in this case.. Then the phone has every last feature of the Sprint model. edog11 here tracked down the exact date, Nov. 9 on which this was going to occur, and sure enough it did. We were monitoring here and people have already taken advantage of that.

This was previously the case for S8 and then Note 8. It takes about a year after release for the brand switching update to come out. It has not been released yet for Note 9.

or they can also buy a phone on ebay and use paypal and do 6 months no interest. paypal right now has 24 months no interest on orders of a $1000 i think. you can buy phones refurbished and choose a seller who has generous return policy. if the phone comes and is not what you expected (many scuffs or dents) you can return it. takes a lot of work but if you want to save money you have to work for it.

Only sprint model LS993 is approved and works very well.(lte bands 25,26,41 along with all Sprint advanced features)
Some people claimed to add(extremely lucky or thru social engineering) the unbranded US997 but it is not approved and lacks LTE band 26,41.

Just want to chime in that I just ported out of this deal after 10 months. It was only ~$7/month for two lines, but the service was rather dismal. I have a 40-minute drive to work, and I would often only be able to stream music for perhaps 50-60% of the trip. I never saw speeds over 10-12 megs. Often, LTE would get me 4-8. Talk to text struggled often. Inside any metal buildings, forget about it.

Worst experience was at the Webster Flea Market. One bar. Showed LTE. Couldn't text or call my wife to find her. Quite literally 50+ calls in over an hour of trying to find her. 2 calls actually made it through. Over half would never connect/ring. The others would ring, but never actually ring on her phone.

3G was pointless. It was like 200Kbps. It would take a full 30 seconds to load an average webpage.

iPhone 6 and iPhone SE. Came from Verizon after 10+ years. Went back to Verizon's network, but under Page Plus prepaid.
I can actually stream on my whole drive home from work again!

I would only go back to Sprint if their plans were in the $20-25/line range.
Now paying $36/line for only 5GB and unlimited talk/text.

If you want, you can just sign up again for free after 45 days off. (Or use a different SSN with no wait).

Also $25 kickstart permanent price was available until a couple of days ago. Maybe they would still give it to you if you call - tell them you were waiting for a sim card - those waiting for sim card have until 11/25.

Perhaps there may be something new Friday.

But you might consider $30 SWAC (requires employee referral from reddit and must be new customer) which adds 50 GB hotspot, free Hulu and Tidal, HD streaming.

Also there is TMO roaming now to eliminate use of 3G on some phones already with more coming.

You can buy a TMO number to port in to go with it. Search "number for port" on Ebay (see Wiki for details and other variations).

Question, I have 1 number I ported in and started service with 1 month ago. If I add a second line do I still have to port in a number or can they just give me a new number? Also any recommendations on a cheap phone. I am adding the line for a friends kid so looking for a phone under $100. Thanks

You have to port in again.

One phone that has all Sprint features (unlike crippled Moto generics):
https://www.sprint.com/en/shop/ce...SP200SLVKT
$96

Should be able to order it from the number ending in 8777 at the same time as ordering the port in to try to avoid activation fee.

(Note that there are both prepaid and postpaid variants of this phone and the only one we have confirmed to activate is the postpaid variant).

I cannot find my zip code, but I found a few neighbor towns' zip codes. However, the taxes in these neighbor towns are quite different, especially 08901 zip code, which is too high.
Why the tax is so much different, even these zip codes are in the same county?

Zip...| Tax | Avg Speed | Recommend or Not | No. of Lines
08540 $4.00 / ? Yes 1 line
08820 $3.46 / 7 Mbps Yes 1 line
08901 $17.30 / 5 Mbps Down / 2Mbps Up - Recommended - 5 lines (if you have multiple lines, the 2nd monthly bill has the correct amount)
