Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

It was not your flaw to use UPC, only to rely on Walmart! Walmart has the wrong UPC for the Boost model. Both Best Buy and LG sites list correct UPCs. Best Buy has UPC listed under Specifications. LG site has UPC listed as last item under Connectivity. Sprint UPC=652810819039. Boost UPC=652810819046. Woudn't hurt to also check IMEI as you say, of course.
Oh really!

Yes, I was going by the Walmart UPC for the Boost model.

Well that would indeed be very encouraging then as to the model cell2get is selling!

I went back and spoke with the employee who handles carrier phone sales and she refused to sell it without a sprint plan. Oh well maybe I can grab one from Best Buy.
That's unfortunate she didn't sell you one without plan. There is an option in Warp system for "device only" they can select to sell the phone without sign up for service. Oh well maybe they changed it but suspect poorly trained employee.

Most (the cheap ones) will be locked to a prepaid carrier or be GSM only and be ineligible.

The unbranded ones that support all carriers are eligible. But you cannot always tell the difference from some vendor's description. And they look identical.

The best place to look is the CURRENT list of eligible devices linked to from the wiki. It has many clarifications.

For E4, it says:

Moto E4 (XT1768)
Moto E4 Plus (XT1775)

So those are the only non-Sprint models that are eligible.

The Sprint postpaid model XT1766 would also be eligible provided it is not Boost or other Sprint prepaid.
Appreciate the help.
I checked my phones and discovered the model # on the Moto E4 is hidden under the battery.
Boost = XT1766
Amazon factory unlocked = XT1768

I left Sprint today in a plan to leave for 45 days. My current plan is to stay on Cricket for those 45 days and then get another year of free service on Sprint on January 31st (or February 1st, if they extend it. But I'm going on the assumption they may not extend it)
So my question is:
1) Is there anything I need to do to officially close out my Sprint account? I signed in and got my account # and PIN and used that at Cricket.
2) Since it is officially a Post-Pay account, when do I end up paying for my partial month of use?

Yes that is all normal.

The Sprint page says XT1900 is indeed eligible.

Any sim ending in 416Q will work and would be $2.99 at a CORPORATE ONLY Sprint store. Any version of the sim kit has that sim too.

Call the number ending in 8777 to activate in order to be able to use your own sim.

Could anyone help me with this?
I ported 2 lines from my Sprint free plan to Metro after paying almost $400 each line for 6s . Now my two Sprint free lines were ported to Metropcs. I thought that for Metro( Tmobile ) , I could insert their sim to my Motog 5 plus currently used on Sprint, but when I tried this, it didn't work.

There are still 5 months left on my free sprint plan, can I just switch back, as we still have 3 line active on the Sprint free plan account ? How to do it? Any insight is greatly will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

Yes but par for the course when dealing with Walmart. I don't understand why buying a Sprint phone is so difficult. I went to the Sprint store and got the same you can lease a phone but we can't just sell you one speech. After I explained "I want to give you money and you give me a phone that will work on your network with out buying a plan", that seemed to be an impossible task. And on top of that I need a specific SIM card. What a joke no wonder these guys are going under.

I'm looking at used unlocked iPhone SE's now but still unclear if I need the Sprint variant or the unlocked. Ahh should just cancel this as the service proved unusable with two devices I've tried it on and thought it might OK for my kid, his first phone.

To answer the questions:

If you buy a new Sprint branded phone, it comes with the needed sim installed already.

Most Sprint stores are independent franchises and can choose to sell only to customers who buy plans. They could not care less whether you use the Sprint network or not.

The BYOD list says: "iPhone SE (Doesn't support 2.5Ghz LTE Band"
so you would be much better off with the Sprint model which does support that band. In fact a phone without that bad will perform poorly. Also many people have had problems activating some iPhone SE's - I do nit know the details but there are others here who do.

However only iPhone 8 and above support VoLTE so I would bear that in mind.

Sure - you can just port them to the free plan as brand new lines by calling the number ending in 8777. It is not a problem that they were on before. You can use the same sims as before.

Thanks a lot and repped. Good to hear that. Free is good. Looks like I can even port back the original phone number form Metro So since I just switched to Metro today, do I need to wait for some time before switching back to Sprint or this can be done any time from now? I need to trade in the two new 6s from metro for $200 each to buy my son Xr, I am afraid that the bonus trade in may end. Thanks again.

You can do it any time - I have gone round trip like that. Yes you can use the same numbers.

Just be very careful step by step that everything is correct and working.

Sprint will likely notice and ask about it but you can just say you tried the other carrier briefly and realized right away you did not like it and wanted to come back to Sprint.

Now, I do not know anything about the particular TMO offer or what restrictions it may or may not have.

Question: I know local stores can't deal with 1 year free lines, but can we go in store and ask for new SIMs? I.e. SIMs for iPhones are different for each of 5c/s-7, 8-X, and XS/XR and newer. Have an 8, but SIMs I have are either too old or too new...
