Our year is almost up and I have a headache already thinking about going for another free year. Please talk me down and tell me it's a piece of cake. Thanks. Yes, I read the Wiki.
Read it again. I would use the tmo online porting method in FAQ#1 to avoid long hold times with tmo. Ports usually complete within 15 minutes.

Don't be afraid. Git er done with spouse's SSN.

Thanks for the information.

That's very impressive that you got them to waive the $2.50 monthly admin charge.

It is stated right in the terms and conditions: "A standard $2.50 admin fee, $0.40 regulatory fee and other taxes and fees apply"

I wonder if it could just be a one-time "courtesy waiver" though. Nobody else has reported getting it waived. Or, if they really will waive it, that would be something else!

I actually agree with you that charging it seems to contradict their advertising that the plan is "free."
I'll report back next month. I didn't know that nobody else had success with this. I guess now I know how much effort to put in moving forward trying to get more credits.

I agree to go with the online T-mobile option. The benefit of calling used to be that you could activate the SIM without funding it. The last two times I have called, the CSR said the new system requires funding upon activation. Today, he told me that up front before taking any information. I had a lot of trouble understanding him, so hung up and used the online link. The $3 plan is not initially visible, so make sure to click on Pay As You Go. Also note the account number on the confirmation page after you pay. The account number is different than the phone number or 1+ the phone number. The email I received did not have the account number, so I was glad I still had the confirmation page open.

The system only allowed me to set up a 4-digit PIN. I have not yet called Sprint, but hope that is the PIN for porting as well.

Thanks! It seems like there have been other posts in the last month which implied that they did not have to fund, but when I called in mid-December and again today, both seemed to be reading from the same script "Our new system requires that you fund the account today."

I used a digital TMobile SIM to Port over today and they didn't make me add any money (not even the $3). I had tried to do online first (which made me pay the $3) but that order never went through and I had to call in.

Just completed porting over to Sprint. 2 lines for the kids. One Pixel that we were no longer using and a LG G5 I bought on ebay. It was pretty painless. The pixel ported right away and the LG took about 40 min to port over. If service is even half way decent I may add more lines. Thanks to everyone who helps out on this thread!

Honestly this offer is amazing with a lot of loopholes. Don't bother doing the app online, it never gets approved, call them. I didn't get approved online then I called and got 5 lines.

They charged me $30 per line as activation charge. Plus taxes and fees. It's not really free after all!

That should not be a surprise if you had read the wiki. Don't worry though, you'll get that money back.

I called today to get the offer and I was told that this offer is NOT available any more. However, they are giving the offer if we use it for third line. For the first two lines, it would be $100 and for the third line it will be free for one year.

Does any one know if I can get this offer somehow?

Thanks for confirming that it is still possible to port by phone without funding. I guess I just had bad luck with the reps on my call three weeks ago and again yesterday. I got the T-mobile SIM for free from the Apple Store, so my total cost was the $3.21 for the Pay as you Go plan. No complaints here!
