Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

I thought tmo kicked ass in NYC. I know for sure that AT&T sux balls, cause that's what I had last time when I was there, and while at home in Miami I was getting 80mbps service, over there AT&T was barely usable, and all my friends with tmo over there really liked it.
Data was ok, but TMo in midtown for calls was nearly unusable for me, as recent as last summer. Just my experience but we couldn't afford to keep TMo around for work.

any way to esn swap a hotspot with this plan?
No because Sprint checks and validates the IMEI continually against its database, including at swap time.

Not one single person in this thread has ever posted success at getting a hotpot device or tablet on this plan.

Cheers, will do.
Welp, for some reason I had Sprint Drive added to my account. When I try to call for free line, the system isn't allowing it because the CSR activated the Sprint Drive prior to the phone. They have offered to take back the Drive, but they are saying the only way to add the phone number and free plan is to create a $60/plan account and put in a request that would take 3-5 business days to convert to a free account. I asked if they can guarantee it would be changed by that time and what would occur if it took longer. Only then they mentioned I'd be responsible for prorated plan before switching over. I asked about cancelling account and reapplying and they said it'd take 45 days - so switching back to MintSIM and maybe I'll try again in a few months. Already too much of a headache and charged $13 thanks to agent trying to make a quick commission. At least I'll still have the SIM card if I try again in 3 months and next time I'll confirm they aren't tacking any BS onto the account.

Man this kind of stuff is really making me question switching over to Sprint.
Free sounds great, but this kind of headache does not.

Just make sure they understand "NO" to everything. I was at work and had to head out to catch bus in a hurry - CSR told me I needed to sign agreement and I didn't have time to thoroughly look it over especially since I was doing everything on my phone during the rush - so it was partly my own stupidity in not reading what I thought I was signing.

Why pay Mint for 45 days twice, if you both have free accounts to port in on?

My free acct ends at the end of January, my wife's personal acct (on her on SSN) is good till end of April, so I am not sure as to why you are saying 'Why pay Mint twice?'; what other option do I exactly have?

This is based on my understanding that after I port out and come back (45 days later), my new acct cannot have her attached (as a second line) to it unless she had ported out first for 45 days and then be brought back to Sprint on my new acct as line number 2? Am I correct here or not completely grasping the concept?

Thanks btw for asking!

You're only porting your phone number. The "45 days" rule is applicable to only each ssn.
The option I was evading to is to Port out your number to her account now via the port methods mentioned in the Wiki. If that's the only line attached to your account, the port out should close your Sprint account. You can call/chat with them to verify it's closed.
If Sprint is still offering this deal, then 45 days later you'll be eligible to start a new account under your ssn again, bring your number back. Then do the same as above now with your wife's phone number. You'll then both have free lines for another year (or more).

Can't you use the phone itself as a hotspot device? I know that option is on my Moto X I sometimes use it when my tablet isn't getting a signal from the Wi-Fi router. Suppose you would need a phone with Wi-Fi capabilities, but I think most have them these days. Is there a difference between using your phone as a hotspot on a cell network, as opposed to on Wi-Fi? would the SIM card give it away?

Actually I think I may have misunderstood the conversation. Were you guys talking about accessing cell data with a tablet or other non phone hotspot device?

You can do that too.

This offer currently does not include hotspot but you can use third-party software such as PDANet+ which we have discussed.

Correct - He said "esn swap a hotspot" so he was talking about a standalone hotspot device.

I would not worry about it - you always see the worst on forums. Try the Mint forums or any other and you'll see worse. (I am on Mint right now and S8 does not have either VoLTE or Wifi Calling because ??? - well they can't figure out why - for anyone! It supposedly had it before but then.........).

Also many of these problems are readily solvable once the person understands alternatives better.

It has nothing to do with free.

There is no problem - as I tried to explain before......the approach several people have posted will work fine.

The only SSN that is looked at is the SSN of the (main) account holder.

I think it has been clarified now.....if not, just ask.
