Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Am I reading the wiki correctly in regards to the Essential phone being knocked off the list of compatible/accepted phones?!! The not so long ago media darling and Sprint exclusive that was all that could be discussed for some time about what a dark horse it was and yet with such a undeniable pedigree with the main man behind it all being Android OG royalty?! An actually interesting story from a much better time before the absurd bizarre hyper focus on notches is all you could read about for years.

I know the Essential phone tanked (had to pick it up out of sheer morbid curiosity when they dropped to a couple hundred for a brand new one) and all but shame on Sprint for abandoning it like this because , success or not, that phone had people, myself included, actively considering going to their service for the first time in ages just for the exclusive phone.

As Comintel above said: The Essential PH-1 is an eligible phone for the BYOD Free plan.
A couple of friends activated them last week and they work great.

The Essential PH-1 is a great phone, especially updated with Android 9.x, but it has one serious flaw: Its reception is lacking especially in marginal areas. If the phone is in a strong Sprint signal area it's fine and it works well.
The other phone I mentioned in my other posts, the Motorola G6 Play, has a signal 2-3x stronger than the PH-1 side-by-side.

Do not hesitate in activating it with the Sprint BYOD 1 Year Free plan.
Good Luck!!!

I had success in December using a Net10 Wireless for Dummies CDMA BYOP Activation Kit /w 7-Days Unlimited Service from ebay. Total cost $2.99, but you have to wait to get the item in the mail.

As pointed out by Comintel at that time, Net10 uses multiple networks, including Sprint, so there is a chance you could port to Net10 and still not have your number eligible. That was not the case for me though, as my number ended up on Verizon.

To anyone else well versed in this thread but hasn't had the opportunity to help another member out that does his best to always give rep (even if it's rep for someone helping others as evidenced above : ). ) I'll give you such an opportunity Smilie

I thought that this seemed like a simple straight forward thread especially with the wiki provided at the beginning but was ready to do some due diligence in skimming the comments section before committing some time tomorrow to pull the trigger tomorrow but at a current comment count well over 2000 posts, my first instinct is to jump ship and not follow through.

Even if a fair bit of these posts can be attributed to the usual innocent but almost entirely off topic hand holding questions from the tech. adverse crowd or the very lazy that anything to do with consumer electronics but especially mobile devices always attracts, what on earth is the tone of the remaining 10% of on topic posts which still amounts to over 200 posts?!

Is this offer, free or not, at a point with many people that it's been such an overall unexpectedly time consuming process with no end in sight?

The mind boggles at what such a significant amount of posts could mean so a quick rundown or just the current, developing sticking points that's causing issues would help a lot.

If you've made it even halfway in keeping current on this thread then just a comparatively tiny amount of time sharing your knowledge would be most appreciated

Note 0:
-There is no contract. If u dont like service, you can port out anytime.
-Best strategy is before u ever call sprint, have your own eligible phone, the specific sim card for that phone, a number to port in from a non sprint "family of providers"[basically a sprint competitor] {it can be pre paid, post paid, from google voice, number barn, freedom pop}. {keep reading on how to get this done}

Adding another success to port out/port in for another free year (with another SSN). For port out used wiki $2.50 tmobile digital sim + $3+tax pay as you go plan /per line. Overall should have taken only 1 hour from start to finish. After port out took 15-20 minutes for the Sprint Eligibility page to allow port back in by calling.

A few notes for others attempting (added to wiki).
  1. You will need another phone line to make the call to port back in. E.g., google hangouts.
  2. Porting from Sprint to T-mobile might require you to do One Line at a Time. Tmobile website greyed out the "Use your existing number" when trying to do multiple lines. You can't use the same e-mail for additional lines with T-mobile unless you create an account to login.
  3. Do this during Normal Business Hours when the credit department is open, in case their automated system doesn't work (I stupidly did this Sunday evening and had to call back Monday morning because the credit verification dept closed at 5pm Sunday).
  4. If you recently moved, use your old address (this is what raised the credit flag).

Of course I am!
Do you struggle with reading comprehension? I say this with some sincerty because on one hand you got everything wrong about my post (which was quite a feat on its own but you went even further with it in such surpreme show of smugness which seems to be something you must practice a great deal to pull off) and, on the other, you abbreviate pronouns to one letter like a 90's teenager texting with the numkeypad of a flip phone...

How could you or anyone read the over the top extreme hyperbole of a scenario I presented before in my P.S. with the so called betrayal by Sprint of the Essential Phone in snubbing them as part of the list of valid devices, in essence, making them sound like quarreling ex lovers?! No one is that passionate about Sprint and/or the Essential phone much less the dynamic between the two.

At most, I was a little bemused as to why the Essential Phone appeared on the "Expired Elligible Devices" list in the wiki since it was an exclusive to Sprint; I take it though now that Expired Elligible Devices is not as literal as it sounds snd refers to something else I missed.
Also, for future reference, you never look to the P.S. anyway to find the main topic or central questions...

The far more polite and helpful members that had answered my real question well before you did making your ill manners twice as foolish; they had no trouble with reading comprehension and my "nonsense" as you put it so what does thst say about you? lol

Which relates to and brings me finally to the crack you made about how my ONE post is contributing to over population of comments in the thread, I was not a zero off in the numbers I gave, I was a word off. I said posts instead of pages but the syntax of the swapped words should have been still clear as to what I was referring due to the fact that the pagination is presented much more clearly as itnis what you interact the most with in relation to the post numbers which are of no real use.

I have two words for you in closing, "multi quote". I saw that after you had made your already unneeded and almost completely incorrect post addressing mine that you summed up with accusation that its thanks to people like me that this thread has so many posts. I dont have a dog in the fight as far as that goes but you made a case out of if.. .AND YET, you went on to post several more times in a row , replying to other people's posts...instead of just using Slick Deals multi quote feature so that you can quote and reply to several posts all neatly together in one post...so for someone pointing fingers, you are quite the hypocrite when it comes down to it.

"Perhaps posts like this is why this thread is 30,000 posts long" eh? You would know. You have got far more posts in this thread alone than I

I am experiencing terrible outbound voice quality (remote end complains). Using brand new iPhone SE with 12.1 iOS (just udapted to 12.1.3 but haven't tested yet). People are complaining about robo like voice or cutting in and out. It does not happen all the time and all places.

The other thing I noticed, for first time since service activation 2 months ago, I got voice over LTE during my commute. I can't replicate that anymore. I am calling in the same area and it goes down to non LTE service to make the call.

In the case of iPhones, VoLTE is only supported on iPhone 8 and above (and not yet in all areas).

Other than that, you may just be in a weak signal area.

Does anybody have modern up to date tips on how to forcibly unlock a phone (iPhone) when a carrier doesn't want to let you? Feels like a see that advice on this site all the time but now when I need it it's hard to search for.
