Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

It was only a loophole that it got on, right. Boost phones are not supposed to be eligible.
So there are no clear rules.

But what do you mean by "Sprint says that it is not (eligible)."
Do you mean the checker says that or that a rep says that?.

If you are just quoting the checker, that means little, because the rep may still be able to approve it. Many (though not all) people had to have the help of a rep to get them on in the first place.

There is no point guessing - you will have to call the number ending in 8777 and ask in more detail. They may say that it is fine. I would just say it a a Motorola phone, not admit that it is Boost or say what model it is.

Worst case, someone can buy it to use on Boost.
Just the online IMEI checker. I was hoping to flog it on eBay and list it as "works with Sprint".

Recent success story. I got my second year using a T-mobile digital SIM off of ebay. The SIM cost $2 and then T-Mobile charged me $3 for the pay as you go plan. They did not require me to preload it with any additional money.

After the line was on tmobile for about 2 hours I called sprint and got it switched back. It took about 45 minutes on the phone. The only issue was that the rep required that I add the phone insurance plan and said I could drop it any time. I removed it from my account later that night.

Today, one day after I restarted my 1 free year, I went and bought a Iphone XR from the Apple Store ($550 after 6s trade in). They gave a free sprint SIM. I had trouble using the online activator (it said the sim number was unavailable). I called Sprint to help activate. The rep had no idea what was going on. He said I was trying to upgrade and that if he activated it then it would void my free year. He talked to his supervisor and said I was allowed to swap for free and keep the plan, but that I had to do it online only. I went into the online chat and got someone who had no idea what they were doing. I gave them the sim number and they said the sim was broken and they would have to send me a new one. I exited the chat and got a new person. I gave him the sim number and he got the phone activated in 5 minutes with no activation fee.

All in all it took some time but well worth it. I post this in case anyone runs into any of the same issues I did. I think there is an issue with online activation from the free SIMs that the Apple Store hands out. If you run into that issue just go to the chat and get a competent rep to help.

I would like to port out to t-mobile and port back in. Have physical t-mobile sim cards from apple store and never been used. Does it work as well like digital sim that everyone is buying? Should I put the sim card in to activate?

I probably missed smth in the thread, but how did you get $2.50? I thought about Apple Store, but I took so many cards from them...
I've recently bought ICCID on eBay, activated by phone ($3 + taxes) and than had issue with porting as Tmobile account is not "1-phonenumber" anymore. Reaching Tmobile CSR is almost impossible (waiting time over 1 hour and then if call drops, one more hour...) so just in case I would buy real SIM card for port-out next time (to be able getting message and so managing Tmobile acc online).
You definitely missed something....... that's plainly listed in the Wiki, and for that you were needlessly punished. Read the Wiki again, CAREFULLY, and use the links there:

(This is just a copy with the links missing)

WIKI FAQs:

1: How can you get a 2nd year free?

since is for new customers u must port out the number.

step 1 port out the number

step 2
a. wait 45 days and port back into sprint using your own social sec #. this is a bit risky as the promotion may be over before 45 days are over.

b. next day (or 15-20 minutes later when the Check your Eligibility [sprint.com] page says Eligible), port back into sprint but have spouse, friend , relative be account holder (new customer requirement with a social sec #). to be clear the new account holder will be the one that will sign up. they will have to provide sprint with all their information. it is as if they are signing up, ideally this new account holder will be a spouse (ie someone u trust).

(You can Re-use your old Sprint SIM when porting back in, but you have to call the 866-782-8777 number to port).

below are details for step 1.

Order the cheap digital T-Mobile SIM Card from eBay

this or similar [ebay.com]

Easiest T-mobile porting method: With t-mobile sim in hand (digital or physical) you can use this link. [t-mobile.com]The cost for the pay as you go plan is $3+tax. All done online and final confirmation page will show your account number. Use pin number that you created in the process. (Note: You don't have to enter your IMEI number-just skip that) Ports usually complete within 5 minutes.

For porting multiple numbers from Sprint to Tmobile, using digital sims and on-line porting link above, at least two people had to port one line at a time (you have to go through the entire port to confirmation page, then create a Tmobile account or use different e-mail for next number). Adding more than one line caused the "Use your existing number" button to be greyed out, only allowing you to create a new number.

online option (one users experience):
The last two times I have called, the CSR said the new system requires funding upon activation. Today, he told me that up front before taking any information. I had a lot of trouble understanding him, so hung up and used the online link. The $3 plan is a little buried, so make sure to click on PAYGO. Also note the account number on the confirmation page after you pay. The account number is different than the phone number or 1+ the phone number. The email I received did not have the account number, so I was glad I still had the confirmation page open.

The online system has you set up a 4-digit PIN for account security, which is the same PIN for porting back to Sprint.

Sure you can if you want but the free Sprint offer is vastly superior to FP's offers.
FP on the Sprint side is base 1 Mbps unless you pay extra.
FP is VOIP only unless you pay extra.
FP data size is tiny compared to this offer.
Thanks for the additional info. I have a couple of questions Just to be sure I am understand how FP to sprint porting works.
You wrote "So you can port a NUMBER off FP, but not directly a Sprint PHONE, because the phone itself IS already active on the Sprint network in that case." Does FP use Sprint network if I am using FP sim with a device that supports both GSM sand CDMA including sprint ?
The device was purchased unlocked. Will it be considered a sprint phone if I have used Sprint with this phone in the past ? Any extra step to take it off Sprint before porting FP to Sprint ?

Also I have another device which is pure GSM (doesn't support CDMA at all) and if I am using FP with this second phone then can FP use sprint network behind the scenes ?

Multiple times, I was told by the Sprint CSR that if I try to swap devices in less than 120 days, the line will change to a paid line. Does this have truth to it? The wiki says device swaps are fine any time, only upgrades aren't. Is there a risk of having a device swap coded as an upgrade?

Anyone with experience swapping devices? I need to make two swaps. Thanks!
From what I can tell it's a sales tactic to sow fear. In my case, the sales rep told me that what they told you. But they added that if I enrolled in Sprint Complete (the $15/month insurance) that I could swap within 120 days and still be eligible for the free plan. They seem to be under enormous pressure to sell that plan.

I moved one of my numbers out and in with a physical T-mobile card last week. I used the online T-mobile link and put the number on the $3+tax plan. I did not put the T-mobile SIM in my phone, but it was nice to know I could if I had any problems and needed to receive a text. After my number was back on Sprint, I tested the SIM to see if it could be reused and got an error message.

Note: If your mobile service provider asks for your account number and PIN, provide your ten-digit Google Voice phone number and the PIN you use to access your Google Voice voicemail

I just got a google voice number, so did not have a pin with a GV before.
Just wanted to let anyone having the same issue:

You need to access the old google voice page. The new one does not have pin set up option.

Since you bought just the sim from FP, it is on the AT&T side of FP rather than on the Sprint side, and there is no problem, at least not from the use on FP. There could be an issue arising from any prior past use on a Sprint MVNO. but that may not occur and if it does it can be dealt with. To test for that, test the IMEI now in the Sprint checker. You an test that now even while the phone is active on FP AT&T side.

No but if it is a pure GSM device it cannot work on Sprint anyway.

Maybe you can put "Used on Sprint Free Plan (YMMV)" or something like that.

especially if you call the number ending in 8777 and they confirm it would still be ok to go back on via phone activation (despite the checker). The checker can often be overridden by the rep where the phone is marginally eligible.

Perfect evidence that they really know there is no problem doing it.

Every word they say, every answer they give, is based solely on their calculation (which may be right or wrong) of how it will affect their chance of selling you something.

People need to STOP asking questions of TeleSales. Their answers have no validity.
