Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

There are only 2 catches
1. You have sprint service which is "good enough" in and around most big cities. Terrible-ish everywhere else.
2. You have to bring your own phone that has to be compatible with sprint (most iphones are if they are non-att and tmobile)

Other than that, it's an amazing deal and I'm on my second year

I am in the middle of my second year. Thanks again to everyone who has put in so much time and effort in helping out folks with this plan. It has saved my family so much money.

We previously had sprint iPhone 5s's that we used from when we were sprint customers a few years ago.

We have been upgrading the phones as we could. Two lines were upgraded to new Moto phones, one a G6, one a G6 play. We got SIM cards from local stores, and swapped over the phone. No problems.

I ordered a preowned iPhone 7plus online from sprint. Received a SIM card with the phone in the mail. Swapped over phone. No problems.

We then purchased two more iPhones from a local store. One was a demo phone iPhone 6s. It was for young son, who mostly just uses phone for playing games. Received SIM card at store. Swapped over phone. No problems.

The last phone purchased was an iPhone se. We were told that it was basically new. The store gave us a SIM card with the phone. that same representative also gave me the SIM card for two of the other phones that same night and knew we are in BYOD plan. We have not been able to get the iPhone se working. It keeps saying "sim not supported". I went to another store and got another SIM card. It is saying the same thing. We even tried the SIM card that was in the iPhone 5s, since the wiki lists the 5s and se as using the same SIM card. All 3 SIM cards say "sim not supported".

When I go the sprint BYOD page and use the IMEI from this iPhone se, it says that it is not eligible. When I put in the IMEI on Ting.com, it says the phone is not eligible as it still has financial obligations or some wording like that.

I have talked to multiple reps on chat and on phone, and they keep insisting that this phone is unlocked, even when I tell them what it is saying online. They say it is activated on my account and that is still the SIM card causing the problem.

I will go back to the store hat I purchased the phone from. But I can't get there until tomorrow evening and at that point I will be right at 7 days since I purchased it. I was only able to start trying to swap it out yesterday. Plus, I would really like to get this phone working for my other son. He is a diehard apple person and I can't afford another iPhone right now.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

This device has not reached financial eligibility. The Sprint account holder is the only one that can clear this balance with Sprint. If you have recently paid off your Sprint device, please ensure you allow 48 hours before checking compatibility. If you bought the phone from a 3rd party you may want to ask for a refund."

I also just went to the tello website and it i saying the IMEI is not eligible. But, sprint keeps insisting that phone is fine and is eligible for this plan.

Currently I am with Xfinity Mobile, considering this deal. However, I will travel around Vietnam for a month starting from Feb 15. For this trip and future use, I bought refurb iPhone 8 Plus at Apple Store yesterday, planning to use a local SIM while travelling abroad.

How best to proceed with porting my number from Xfinity to Sprint at this stage, please?

Should I activate the unlocked iPhone using Xfinity SIM first, port over to Sprint, and then take the phone to Vietnam?

Otherwise, should I port Xfinity number to Sprint, thereby activating the iPhone for the first time at Sprint before the trip?

Would it be best to take the unlocked iPhone to Vietnam, activate the phone using a local SIM there, and take care of porting after returning home in mid-March?

Any possibility for Xfinity to lock the iPhone if I insert Xfinity SIM into an unlocked iPhone, or Sprint to lock it when activating unlocked iPhone for the first time on their network?

Any tip/suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

It may be locked by another carrier:

The phone wants to see a sim from that other carrier.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Sprint/c...supported/

To find out which one, you can get the GSX report on EBay for 99 cents. You can copy/paste it here and people will interpret it for you.

There is probably going to be nothing you can do and nothing Sprint can do. Apple does not allow Sprint to remove locks that were set by another carrier.

Others may have comments though.

I've been getting this message for about 6 hours now:

You've lost data connectivity because you left your home network with data roaming turned off

But I'm at home.
I've used Sprint postpaid with this exact same phone for 13 months then I just signed up with Sprint again around 1/21/19. Same phone, same house yet suddenly Sprint seems to be gone. I can only get LTE band 2 if I set the phone to roam. Is that T-mobile? How do you tell the difference between band 2 T-mobile, AT&T and Verizon? It seems they all use band 2.

I did the 72786 thing and played with LTE discovery and SignalCheck pro reset. Not really sure what's going on here. Phone is a factory unlocked moto g4 play XT1607. Normally it stays on Sprint band 41

Just turn on roaming and leave it on. The network and phone will dynamically choose the best band, including both Sprint and TMobile towers.

There is free unlimited use of TMobile towers under the new TMobile-Sprint roaming agreement.

Sprint is switching you to TMobile band 2 to give you a better signal, data speed and latency at your location at any given time. It is officially extended area coverage. Some phones call it roaming, some not, pending software updates. Sprint uses it in various ways to reallocate load in certain cases. Also there are lots of upgrades going on so you may find yourself switched back and forth.

You can verify it is TMO roaming by looking at your Sprint account usage statistics. You will see roaming usage is zero. As long as it is zero, you know it is TMobile roaming not subject to any quota. (Even if it did ever roam on another carrier limited by roaming quota, the quota only limits roaming and never causes a charge to your account).

So far roaming is zero, hopefully it stays that way. The only real difference is that stupid roaming triangle mocking me, lol. And the speed. Sprint was 30Mbps+ down and I think about 4Mbps up (band 41). Now I have 15Mbps down and 11Mbps up. Download slower and upload faster, still not bad. Thanks for the help

I predict you will find yourself back on the higher download speed Sprint band after they finish upgrades in your area or whatever.

But you are right about the higher upload speed. As soon as I see higher upload speeds I know I am on TMobile at that moment!

Quite a few phone models (I think many iPhones and Samsungs) are suppressing the roaming indicator already in this case so it does not confuse people. But not all of them can be updated easily.

The post states discount is applied within 2 invoices. Does it mean sprint will charge $65 for the first 1 or 2 invoices and then refund me the money? Rep said I will be charge $25 each month. I checked my account and there a $65 monthly charge. Does someone understand what is going on? Please help.

Your first post in this thread and it's not very clear. Sounds like maybe you're on the wrong plan. Check wiki FAQ #6 to find out if you are on the correct plan.

How did you go about signing up for this promo?

A good case was made that the roaming in the factory unlocked version will be as good as in the Sprint version. I myself just do not know for sure.

A lot of Samsung users do prefer the factory unlocked version, including a lot of Sprint insiders, and are pushing for all of this to work perfectly, so I assume that will happen.

Also you can always disable the Sprint bands to force TMobile roaming as well..
Thanks as always! Guess I'll keep my unlocked Note 9 since I won't be adding it to this Sprint account for another month or so. Maybe then non-Sprint Note 9's will be all figured out and have all the calling features. Odd the carrier model numbers are all N960U except the unlocked verson which has a 1 at the end?
