Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

My phone was recalled so i took it to apple and they gave me a loaner phone while mine was out for repair. The apple CSR called sprint to swap over the sim card from my phone to the loaner.

Well guess what, just got my Sprint bill for last month and they charged me for the "total equipment protection" for $14.99....that means the sprint CSR added it while on the phone with the apple CSR without me knowing.
This may be obvious but if it is still there, be sure to Chat to at least cancel further charges and try to get the existing charge cancelled too..

However is it possible Apple requests it to protect its loaner phone?

People can certainly try, but they normally say they do not deal with prepaid numbers in my experience and transfer you to Prepaid Customer service.

However when I complained hard enough that Prepaid Customer Service has no actual port status information, they finally relented and started investigating my port's status..

Even then it took another hour for them to escalate it to specialists before they could even access the actual status.
I never have problem with that number. I found another number on my Rolodex, so try 877-207-8169 if that number refuses to help with prepaid porting. Make more love Big Grin

It may be locked by another carrier:

The phone wants to see a sim from that other carrier.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Sprint/c...supported/

To find out which one, you can get the GSX report on EBay for 99 cents. You can copy/paste it here and people will interpret it for you.

There is probably going to be nothing you can do and nothing Sprint can do. Apple does not allow Sprint to remove locks that were set by another carrier.

Others may have comments though.
Thanks very much! That is very helpful! I called Apple Support and they confirmed the phone is locked to TMobile

Just signed up again last night. Have all your info and phone/sim card in front of you. It will take 30-45 minutes altogether to get signed up. I let the rep add the insurance and then cancelled it via chat later once I got my online account running. Keeps the rep happy and things moving along.

I suspect not to both questions, but you might want to call TeleSales and ask them just to check on their screen. They will do that without requiring you to sign up then and there. If they say ok, I would think it should hopefully be ok but would still not be absolutely 100% confident.

Are we able to get the free AAA renewal while on the free plan? Sprint texted me about it and I just want to make sure it's not going to mess up my plan if I sign up for it.
Did you end up signing up? Did it affect your free year? I just got a text on it. It filled in my AAA info and of course it just renewed last month but if there's a chance it could apply to the next renewal, I'd sign up. TIA

I had the free plan, and it ended around October (approx) of last year. They automatically transitioned me to this plan:
Unlimited - Bring Your Phone
Total for 1 device(s)
$25.00 mo.
Data: Unlimited GB
Talk: Unlimited
Text: Unlimited
Unlimited - Bring Your Phone - Unlimited Talk, Text and Data. $30/line/mo up to 5 lines. 50GB Mobile Hotspot. International Text from US. Eligible for $5 per line/per month AutoPay discount.
$5 AutoPay Plan Discount

Then, last month, an associate of mine (who I had previously encouraged to get the free year as well), had his free year end. But, they transitioned him to a $60 plan without the 50GB tethering. Why the difference?

Doesn't seem so, b/c the Kickstart Plan didn't offer Mobile Hotspot AFAIK

The $25 rate is a retention plan offered selectively to some users. Several people here got it. That selective offer includes hotspot/tethering for those who already have it.

They try to offer retention plans ONLY to people who will leave if they do not get them. They assess that very carefully based on various factors. Obvious they assessed right (in a perverse way) for your second friend because he apparently did not leave even after being given the higher rate. Such people get the original high-dollar plan provision.

However, he probably does have Hotspot at that price and it is just not stated.

He can still try calling to Cancel which will get him to Retentions to negotiate. However, they will ignore threats to leave if they think you are bluffing. You have to be ready to actually leave then and there or they will know you are bluffing. They are not under any obligation to offer everyone the same retention offers.

Ok, thanks, I will have my friend see if he has another option he likes, and then have him call retention w/out "bluffing".

Back to me: I NEVER called retention. So, you are saying they somehow "thought" I wouldn't stay (figured out on their own that I am a cheapskate), and put me on the retention plan?

Is the "default" for people expiring from the Free Year (recently) to get transitioned to the $60 plan?

Thanks for the part number SIMGLW446C.

I went to a retail sprint store, even willing to pay for this particular part number SIM. The store rep. said they can't even sell this SIM card and pushed me to just buy the BYOP 4-in-1 SIM kit.. the same one that was mentioned in the wiki.

Before I break open this SIM kit, I just would like to make sure that one of these 4 SIM cards will work with my Sprint LG G5 phone. Do you happen to know? It was only $3, but no point wasting $ if I have the wrong sim kit that won't work on my phone or this BYOP plan. Thanks!
I just want to update my own post from yesterday..so anyone who is looking to activate their LG G5 has the right sim to work with.

The part number that desi_babu_2010 gave is the only one that will work. SIMGLW446C.

None of the 4 sim cards that were inside the BYOP kit worked. I don't know if it has to do with the age of the phone, but it seems that this phone requires the original sim SIMGLW446C. Sprint store wouldn't even sell it to me let alone give me one for free, so I had to buy one at BestBuy for $10. You can't buy it off the rack, you have to go to cell phone section and give them SIM model number. They have stacks and stacks of different sim cards, I'm sure they got them all for free but they can't just give it away. The guy even chuckled I was buying it - commented that Sprint gives these away, and how ridiculous Sprint is with their variety of sim cards for different phone brands.

I couldn't wait for Sprint to mail me one since monthly billing was coming up on the old provider in a couple of days. It was time to port out right away, or pay for another month.

Thanks to all the hard work all the contributors put in the wiki, I now activated this 1yr free sprint line for my dad. This will be perfect for him. I also want to thank for the phone suggestion. I bought a used sprint LG G5 off eBay for $35. By far the biggest bang for the buck. This phone is phenomenal for what I paid. I had him ride out a windows phone for a couple of years, he'll be really happy with this new upgrade.

Only thing I have noticed so far is the phone went into ROAMING. I don't know if that is included with the plan but I disabled roaming. Don't know if it makes a difference.
