Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

To get 2nd yr, has anyone tried using xfinity mobile? I.e. port out from sprint to xfinity and port back to sprint. Xfinity doesn't charge for the sim but I believe I will have to pay taxes and regulatory fees which is about $3-4 per line. I appreciate any insight
1. Why wouldn't it work? To get this deal you just have to port in from ANY carrier other then a Sprint affiliated one.

2. When I did my first year on this deal I ported in from Xfinity mobile without any problems.

What a joke. I signed up by phone after my credit check had problems online (780 credit score). They put me in a $30 a month plan instead of the free plan I signed up for. Then my sim would not activate after two days of trying with customer service. I that point I called to cancel. Sometimes free isn't worth it. They said there was nothing to cancel since I wasn't activated. Two days later I get a notice from my old carrier that my number had been ported. Sprint is telling me they can't cancel the plan til the end of my billing cycle. Had to fight for hours to get them to cancel the plan. Not tio mention the long wait times any time you call. Avoid this trash.

I've signed up for this plan and had three other people sign up with no issues. Also ported over multiple lines without issue. Always follow the wiki. Or ask in here before doing anything not covered by the wiki.

First thing is call the RIGHT number. Second MAKE SURE THEY ARE GIVING YOU THE FREE PLAN before you even give you name or anything.

As per their list of compatible phones, Note 9 should work. But, when I enter the IMEI number it is telling me that it's not compatible. I have the XfinityMobile Note 9 which is totally network unlocked.
Is anyone using that phone on Sprint?

I personally wouldn't recommend this if you are on the fence. Sprint service isn't great..
Disagree. I normally get 3-4 bars with LTE service everywhere I go. For free, this is a no brainer. Try it if you are on fence.. Its free..nothing to lose. Port out if you cant figure out how to get your phone working correctly.

Is your note 9 the following model, "Galaxy Note 9 Special Edition (SPH-N960U1)"? That's what's currently listed as eligible from the wiki link.

In the wiki it suggests to port a GV # to h2o and use that to port into Sprint. It says total cost $3 (which is what GV port costs), implying that the h2o SIM is free? I couldn't find it free anywhere, any suggestions?
that is not what wiki suggest...(
unless someone with out any knowledge has altered the wiki)
as suggested below...read wiki again...

if still unclear, post the "phrase from wiki" exactly that u r having difficulty with

No. If you have NOT asked for unlocked from Xfinity, your Note 9 is locked to Xfinity Mobile.

And, after it is unlocked by Xfinity, you might still need to ask Sprint to add the IMEI to Sprint database.
Good luck!

Other carrier branded Note 9 is not yet supported as Samsung has not yet released the BYOD brand switching update for this model.

Once Samsung does so (or maybe a little ahead of time as has been the case in the past for other models) , expected in the next month or two, then Sprint will instantly update the IMEI database and tjhe phone will check as eligible.

We have a number of people here with Note 9's checking periodically and waiting for that.

(Until then, only the factory-unlocked model is eligible which does not do you any good, as noted by others).

It should not be too long. It is totally dependent on Samsung.

No. If you have NOT asked for unlocked from Xfinity, your Note 9 is locked to Xfinity Mobile.

And, after it is unlocked by Xfinity, you might still need to ask Sprint to add the IMEI to Sprint database.
Good luck!
You are right that it need to be unlocked by the carrier if not already unlocked.

However, Sprint will not add it to the database and it would not work if they did because Samsung has not yet released the BYOD brand-switching update for carrier-branded Note 9. This is expected in the next month or two.

We have many people here waiting for that to occur.

Once Samsung makes that update to the phone, Sprint will add all carrier branded Note 9 to the database automatically. We have been through this sequentially for S8, then Note 8, then S9 and seen it unfold in precise detail each time. Next comes carrier-branded Note 9!

Correct and models ending in U1 are the factory-unlocked model.
Models ending in U are the carrier-branded model.

This person can check and will find that they will have N960U which is the carrier-branded model and is not quite yet eligible.

I have Samsung Unlocked Note 9 bought from Best Buy. It works on Sprint Network. I have for about 3 months now.

That is the factory-unlocked U1 model which is already supported.

This person should check but will find they have the U model (carrier branded) which is still awaiting Samsung's release of BYOD brand switching (expected soon).
