Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Re: the official end date of 4/4/19...would this date apply to adding an additional line as well?

I'm a Sprint customer so it's too late for me to port out and back in by next week.

But, a family member is on Virgin Mobile on a non-eligible phone (Samsung Core Prime) so we're planning to buy a used LG G5 or V20, and porting her number to Sprint BYOD before 4/4/19.

According to Note 0, since it's possible to add additional lines at a later time, would she be able to add me to her BYOD account after 4/4/19?

Desired result is that we're both on Sprint BYOD under her account by mid-May ish. Does this seem feasible?

Thanks!

if the plan does end on 4/4, it is unclear if people ALREADY on the plan will be able to add a line after 4/4

Thanks comintel! I cannot believe that I read step 2a and 2b as both/and instead of either/or. In this case, if the only objective is to get my phone on BYOD, then your second suggestion sounds good. In fact, she doesn't even need to add her phone to Sprint/leave Virgin Mobile, does she? She'll just have two phone accounts open with different carriers.
phone number can only be with one or the other, not both

No. They didn't even respond. I had to check the status (rejected) to find out.

That is true - she can leave her phone and number on Virgin, or move them, as she wishes.

If she does wish to move her own phone to get the better plan here, it would have to be via TMobile or other intermediate step as per Wiki. You cannot move a phone and number directly from Virgin because it is part of Sprint. But you can have accounts on both separately. (But not the same number or phone on both at the same time, as Desi notes).

Yes people have posted that they received checks promptly - as did I myself also.
What kind of credit are we talking about here? Is it paid amounts partially refunded because of prorated charges due to port out in the middle of a billing cycle?

(corrected)
Mine was for refund of an overpayment but other people have activation fee credits as well.

Immediate Charges Accrued $4.93
Feb 03 Refund Check Mailed $4.93
Total Immediate Charges Accrued $4.93

edog11 has pointed out that proration is not applicable for the final month. I have corrected this post to clarify that it was an over-payment, not a proration.

yeah i read the whole thing, i'm not sure it it's up to date b/c the most relevant answer to my question was:

(i [desi_babu_2010] do not know this seller but have bought before several times and have not been disappointed)

Seller information:yywirelesss (55962)
$65 LG G5 LS992 (Latest Model) - 32GB - GRAY (Sprint) 9/10

$80 LG V20 - 64GB - Titan black T-Mobile Verizon Sprint AT&T Smartphone A (get sprint version)
and both of those models no longer show up on the eligible list. i managed to find the imei for an lg g5 someone was reselling on ebay and entered it into the sprint tester and it said the model was not compatible... i was just hoping to get a cheap second phone to use as my work cell. at this point, i'm thinking the free (crappy) coverage isn't worth the hassle and doubt, but i don't know.

Sprint phones are automatically eligible and so do not appear on the list.
They never have appeared on the list (with a few exceptions to clarify confusion).
Piles of people here have activated them.

If a phone is already active, it will show as ineligible. Prepaid phones are ineligible too. And a few other such exceptions.

People pay too much attention to the list. It is not actually used in activating the phone. The system decides that. It is just a marketing educational/creation for people who know little..

Anything used and recommended by people here is eligible (depending on the individual phone's history with Sprint of course)..

It remains to be seen after April 4.

Guesses are divided.

I think so, some others think not necessarily.

Why does it take more than a day to port out of Sprint? You can do it any time, then immediately reactivate by porting in to her account once it is live. See the Wiki for how to port out to a temporary account on another carrier and then back in to an account on this plan..

As a matter of fact you can do it right now within a couple of hours if you want by having her use your phone (after port out) to open her new account under her SSN, then add her phone later when she gets it. It does not matter which phone goes on first.

If she does wish to move her own phone to get the better plan here, it would have to be via TMobile or other intermediate step as per Wiki. (But not the same number or phone on both at the same time, as Desi notes).
Thanks again, comintel.

I think my understanding of the wiki was unclear. I read the green font of Wiki FAQ #3 as meaning a direct move from VM to Sprint was possible.

If going from Virgin Mobile or Boost to Sprint; do I have to use someone else's SSN? No you do not. Although Virgin and Boost are part of Sprint, their customer accounts are separate from Sprint Postpaid accounts.
It is true that you do not have to use a separate SSN, as I think I mentioned also.

The accounts are indeed separate, as the Wiki says..

But there is the separate issue that you cannot port a number directly from Virgin because the number is a Sprint-family number. Also the phone will initially show as ineligible because it is currently active on the Sprint network. But just porting the number first to an intermediate carrier will solve both problems.

To be thorough, you also need to check with Virgin that they do not have a payment or other lock on the phone if you bought it from them, but that does not seem to be arising these days.

Had to do it all over the phone, but was able to move my wife off to tmobile and then back to a new account for an additional year. I'll move my line to her account tomorrow.

While I had a tmobile account setup was able to claim mlb.tv for this year. What a nice extra perk Smilie

is this worth buying a new phone for - and what would be the best bang for the buck? will any of the phones on the list work if you buy a refurb from an authorized seller on ebay? it's not like i can check the imei before purchase unless they list it...and most don't
Buy a refurb Pixel XL 128GB for $150 on eBay. Been using them as an extra phone and bought a few for my friends as well. And Google announced they will be getting Android Q and they have been good. Make sure choose a seller with free returns just in case. You can also buy a 2 year warranty.
