I thought the Kickstart plan ended a long time ago, and was only $15. Is this plan any different from that one, other than the price? I thought the other one included hotspot, HD video, etc.
The $15 plan was available for only a very short time, that's true.
Then it came back at $25. The newer version is no better than the old but does include store support. Store support is no big deal for many of us, but Sprint apparently decided it was a marketing requirement, and it added to the cost..

Hotspot was never included in either incarnation, not was HD video.

The plan that had HD video and hotpot was the original version of the Free Plan. These were dropped when the free plan was revised, to lower its specs so that they were not better than kickstart (which they had been up until that point).

I appreciate your patience with my dumb questions. One more? What do you mean by store support? The original Kickstart didn't allow access to Google Play? Or you couldn't get support in the Sprint stores if you had technical/billing issues?

The second of those.
There is a whole deluded group of consumers out there who absolutely demand they be able to walk into a store and get help. They did so anyway, whether they were allowed to by the plan or not. So Sprint gave up on the idea of centralized support only for $15 KickStart and increased the price by $10 to pay for the staff training, systems support in store, advertising in store, commissions, etc.

Wow. I'd way rather have the $10 off. Bummer. I actually called on the last day the original Kickstarter was available, but I wasn't feeling well. After a very, very long hold, I explained I didn't feel well and asked if the deal would definitely still be available the next day if I called back. They promised it would. I called back and they told me the prior day had been the final day. They supposedly verified I was promised, and they said they'd find a way to get me on the plan, but after months of being transferred back and forth I lost hope. Frown

Thanks for the help!

If you had it in writing we might have been able to suggest ways to escalate it. But after this amount of time it may be late alright. It might still be possible if you have written proof.

I hope you got the Free plan instead. Many of us have just started out third and final free year.

In any case, hopefully there will be new deals down the road.

I have emails saying they're doing to figure it out, but that's all. The original promise was verbal.

I did get in on the free plan starting last July. Now I have to figure out what my family is going to do for phone service in a month. Maybe the new Kickstart, but things are tight enough that we'll likely go to a pay as you go plan.

There is a Recovery offer after you port out.

I do not know if it would fit your situation or not.

Wow, I literally can't believe how helpful you are! I'm not seeing a clear answer on that page, but I assume that offer doesn't work if we all came back with the $25 Kickstart plan?

People are posting that you only get $50 per line if you choose KIckstart, I do not know the full details though or whether that varies by number of lines.

Yeah, that's what I was told by Recovery. They said they could only offer the full $250/line (for reactivating 2 or more lines) or $100 (for reactivating a single line) if I selected a normal-priced plan. If I wanted Kickstart or "the up-to-5-lines for $100/mo" 1-year promo on Unlimited Basic they said they could only offer a $50/line credit for reactivating because those plans are "already discounted." Still it doesn't hurt to ask since people are sometimes told slightly different things by different agents.

You can also schedule the account cancellation in advance and tell them you want it to be cancelled at the end of the billing period. That may give you more time to talk to different people in Recovery or wait for better offers. If you do that, be sure to go into your account and check your plan details a few days after scheduling the cancellation. On person found that the end date for their free BYOD somehow got extended that way. It may have just been a one time glitch, but you never know.

Wait, so I don't have to actually cancel, port out, and come back to make the offer work?

I was able to talk to the Recovery team after scheduling the cancellation date but before it had actually taken effect, so I believe that's correct. However, the agent said she needed to check something and would call me back, but I never got a call, so by the time I contacted them again the cancellation had actually taken effect (I never ported out since I use Google Voice and don't care about my numbers).

The most straightforward course is you port out first.

But, on thinking about it, I can see it could be attractive to try to do it in the way kmartind mentions, to save actually porting out.

He is talking about ordering a cancellation for a later date, and then trying to "come back to Sprint" in the interim before the cancellation actually takes effect. One person did do this.

Well, why not, if you can pull it off? I like it, on second thought, for those confident of their ability to navigate the steps. As long as you are agile, and careful with the dates, so as not to lose your number.

Let's say your billing cycle ends on the May 15, and your free plan ends May 31. Will Sprint charge you for a prorated time on a paid plan June 1-15, or is June 1-15 a bonus free time period?

I confirm that I received the promised credit of $11.12 per line on the latest statement, which is a separate line item per line "18-Month Loyalty Discount 1 of 18". The $50 credit per line that I received immediately upon agreeing to the winback is a separate line item "Winback Loyalty Reward". This is all on free lines!

Thanks for letting us know!
11.12 x 18 is $200.
$50 + $200 is $250.

So is this saying you would get the full $250 over 18 months? Is this for each of 2 lines?
I guess you were trying to force an extension of the free plan, which has not happened so far at least.
