Quote from Jefft92264 :
Yeah it kind of sucks. You can do one of the following things at the end of your lease: 1) pay a couple hundred bucks and you now own the phone 2) agree to purchasing the phone but spread that couple hundred bucks over 6 month payment 3)turn the phone in and upgrade to a new phone, starting another 18 month lease 4) do nothing at all... Which you'll just continue paying that monthly lease amount but as a rental... 5) turn the device over to sprint at the end of the lease... Now you have no phone. You never actually own the phone until after 18 months of payments and then making a ballon payment which is essentially the full retail price of the phone less the total of the 18 months of payments.

I got screwed cuz I have 2 numbers on my account, my primary line and the second line was a friend's... who passed last year. I held on to it cuz.... Well, I wasn't ready to let go (don't judge). I realized it was on a forever iPhone plan paying $22 a month TWO full years AFTER the lease expired. So 24 payments of $22 and I STILL don't own the phone they said I'd still have to pay like $130 to own it. I closed the number and returned the phone.

You'd think I could use that as leverage with sprint (not to mention the 20 years of service) to do some sorta magic on my lease. I just hit the 12th month upgrade period but I can't close my account port out and back in until I payoff the 6 months of lease payments at $34 a month PLUS pay the purchase price at the end of the lease which I heard was like. $220. Or I could return the phone and have nothing. The "kicker" here is, you can't get a Kickstart plan if you have a lease anywhere within sprint.

After I was offered the Kickstart plan and signed all up for it, an hour later got a call saying they can give it to me because I am leasing a phone. Lost my mind. Then they send me a survey. Wrong move... sending a customer satisfaction survey to someone they just screwed. So of course I have to fill it out. I get a call the next day from a "special department."she said she wouldnt lose a 20 year customer and oh she's work her magic. Almost 45 minutes later," sorry I tried everything we can offer you anything... That killed me. So no Kickstart for me til I payoff this phone. Lol.
Thank you for the detailed explanation :-)

Waaaaow! That's very interesting. Expiration date is the same as our current 4/30/20, but would be hugely beneficial to anyone who missed it. Really deserves to be a new thread if it's true. I nominate comintel to start it since he's been THE most consistent person in helping people on 1YF. Hurray for Sprint desperation. Yahoo!
Yup comintel is very good and the only one i listen to.

Trying to switch phones on my account. I checked the IMEI on the BYOD spot and it said its fine for Sprint and I get no error after putting it in for the switch however when I put in the sim card number I "This number is invalid. Please try again". This happens with a new sim as well as my sim that I'm currently using. Ive checked all numbers several times. Any ideas?

Edit. Chat was able to take care of it.

My one year free plan will end 9/30, can I do kickstart (don't need to save free plan phone number) by opening up a new account using the same SSN as the free plan?

Yes it will. All such current or recent factory-unlocked Samsung phones are supported by Sprint and this plan is just the same as other Sprint plans as to which phones are supported. Also Sprint has in fact confirmed that that model is now supported. People are already reporting they are using them successfully now.

You will need the correct Sprint sim as has already been mentioned by edog11 https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=129781675&postcount=41324

You can order the universal BYOD sim kit from Sprint for $2.99 including shipping from
https://shop.sprint.com/mysprint/...ndent=true
That kit includes the needed sim.

Yes you can, because Kickstart just requires a new line, not a new account. nor a new SSN.

Also you do not need a new account - you can use/reuse the same one..

However you cannot just convert the same phone to KickStart in place.

You will have to port out the number to kill the free plan which would otherwise evolve into a $60 plan. You can port it out to Sideline and let it die there for free.

Or cancel (see https://slickdeals.net/f/10235008-sprint-byod-1-year-unlimited-talk-text-data-free-w-eligible-device-sim-req?p=128482822#post128482822 for one way)

The poster(justm3) before yours I believe activated one. They had to use chat. Also S4GRU chart linked in wiki shows sim needed for Note 10+ now.

As you predicted, many of the new IMEI's are not in the database yet according to various Reddit threads such as https://www.reddit.com/r/Sprint/c...y_note_10/
among others.

Supposedly "joint Samsung Sprint teams" are hard at work adding them to the database.

Meanwhile reps can add them on request and u/revik2 on reddit has added them for some people on those threads.

Contact Sprint here (after joining) and they will add your IMEI to the database,
https://community.sprint.com/t5/S...rue#M12881

I suggested this before, but now I even got specific confirmation for you that they will do so.

Need help with moving to Tello. Tello kept on giving me error when i check phone eligibility. So I moved to H2O successfully. When I try to move to Tello, they are still not allowing me my phone. They still have same error in their system. Something to do with Sprint, phone number and phone IMEI. What could be going wrong. We ported successfully to H20. Why is Tello giving error while porting.

Thanks

It is iphone 6s. Original phone is with ATT and unlocked. We got it replaced by similar phone by apple store. It worked fine with Spring BYOD 1 YR free plan. I ported it to H20 3 week back using same phone IMEI.

What does this checker say now?

https://www.sprint.com/en/shop/br...STEPS:1:EC

Very likely we know what the problem is but we need to see the above results before saying.

It is showing my phone with unlimited kick start plan for $25. It is also showing my SIM number (probably my old sprint sim number or something). I am able to go all the way to cart with this plan. What does it mean? Why is Tello not allowing my phone. Thanks.
