You did this on Sprint Chat???
If so, this must be a new directive to all Sprint CS reps after they look up a customer's account.
Not just the retention dept.
Yes, I did this thru the CHAT. I believe this is a new directive because of the COVID19. I had the same conversation with the Chat CS as well as the Phone CS earlier in the month and both told me that I will have to move to a more expensive different plan. One CS even try to sell the Pixel 3 for 300, but I refused. I will try again and see if they will let me buy the Pixel 3.

Thanks for your reply.

You are right.
This is a NEW directive from Sprint because of the Covid-19 situation, and most likely WILL apply to ALL Free BYOD accounts that expire on 4/30/2020.

It extends the current plan for 3 months to 6/30/2020.

When you call or chat they will REVIEW your account and make a note and adjustment extending the free plan.

It may be best though to go thru the Sprint Retention Dept. at 844-382-3317 listed by Comintel in various posts here.

I'm certain you're OK and your plan has been extended but it doesn't hurt to double check.

I just called the Retention Dept. and got the same extension as you did.

Hopefully, all others with the 4/30 expiration date will get this extension.

Now, if anyone here gets a different VERIFIED expiration date, say end of 2020, please report.

Checking back in the last few days' posts here some have tried to extend their plan and were rejected and were offered other not so good incentives.
BUT,
There are a couple of posters, one who states that the Sprint rep gave him a year extension and another who said he got until the end of 2020 extension, but the dates do not appear in their accounts to be verified.

These posts are:

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=135795887&postcount=43094

and,

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=135766145&postcount=43077

Perhaps, these two posters can try to verify these two expiration dates since Sprint reps have known to be wrong, or sometimes state wrongly.
Hopefully, the dates they were given are valid but the 6/30/2020 date seems more reasonable given that it doesn't extend too far into the T-Mo/Sprint merger date, like the other 2 extension dates of a year or so.
Double checking is probably a good idea.

If my plan expires 4-30-20, extending to 6-30-20 is only 2 months.

What was everyones expiration date who received this extension?

Not complaining, I will take the 2 months if necessary

Thanks for providing this great info !

They were going to extend my second line to an additional free year but for some reason I turned it down. This was when it got to retention. I guess I'm hoping they will offer me this same one year extension when I go to cancel my first line as my billing period ends on the 6th of April. I should be good to still be eligible? We'll see.

I was planning a move to Visible and may still get a line with them, just for their hotspot alone perhaps if I get a party of 4. Time to reconsider canceling Sprint however..

My wife's line was expiring on 4/30. I chatted w/ sprint.com and they were able to extend it to 6/30 w/ no prodding (just asked). I call that retention # and was told they could extend it, but only if i was unemployed due to covid-19. I told him i was not (as of yet) and he put me on hold forever, and said there was nothing he could do. I tried to call back but each time I got the same tired and grumpy sounding lady, so I did not feel like dealing w/ that. 2 months is 2 months, so a win for me!

I called in, and got the retention offer on both my lines. Now the agent could not see how long they are extending it for, but he said that it would be for at least 3 months. Agent said to keep an eye on the bill and that may show when the pricing would change.
I just called 844-382-3317 and got a retention offer as well. But, I was only offered to extend it for two month. My new expiration is June 30 and the rep said to close prior to 6/24 to avoid being charged the full price.

Some new information:

A friend just called retentions, 844-382-3317, he got the 2 month extension to 6/30/2020, and was told to call back at the end of June and they will extend it further then.

Of course, Sprint may change this by then, for better or worse, so keep that in mind.

Regarding LuckAnt's post, I called to cancel one line (expiring end of March) and was told I could extend for 1 year and keep the same deal being charged $5.32 total for another year. He sent an email showing the same thing for old and new plan though it doesn't show the end date. I do not, however, see a new expiration date in my account so far. I called this morning.

Quote from LuckyAnt :
Hey EVERYONE just wants to let you know.

Today I called sprint to close my account and was told by sales rep promotion was extended until the end of the year. No dates but the end of the year so please someone call 611 and double-check.

Lady told me she can't send me any mail with all this info only agents can see it on the account and she needs to accept it if I want to.

SO fingers crossed will see my ned bill on the 2nd of April but for now, I keep my 3 lines active and magic box as well.

Good luck everyone Wink

I chatted with Sprint again today on my plan extension since 3/31/20 is my listed expiration. Reviewing my chat transcript the rep said my pan is extended until later this year. I'm still unable to see a specific date or get Sprint to give one. My original conversation last week said next year. Will just have to wait and see.

Maria Q. : On checking your account I found that the unlimited BYOD plan was set to expire on 03/31/2020 but now it's extended until later this year. The new expiration dates are o yet updated but please be assured that your will will remain approx $5 for now. We will send an email at m.....com with new expiration dates once the date is declared.

Because it was one of my lines not both I was offering to cancel at the time and didn't know if they would offer up for both lines. Plus I was at work and couldn't talk much longer. I wish it was your reasoning instead ha.
