Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Yes, it should work, but check out the Amazon reviews of people with porting problems.
You may not want to use Mint if you care about not losing your #.

Hi thanks for the reply, to be clear I just want to come out of Sprint and don't have any plans to continue on mint. Can I just port out from sprint to mint using this one week mint plan for a $ and don't subscribe to any monthly plans?

To be on the safe side you may NOT want to use Mint.
If there are porting problems and your # stays with Sprint, your account will still be active and you'll be charged.
Better try another company with no porting issues.
People here use H2O.

Any challenges with porting the Sprint number TO Google Voice? I want to keep the phone number and have a Tracfone that I need to keep the same number in order to get the S9+ phone unlocked. Besides the fact that there are a lot of spam calls that come in on our old phone number. Will probably convert it to home phone number using Obi202. Any idea how long I should allow for it to get ported?

No challenges other than that Google Voice is treated as a land-line / VOIP service and so ports to it (and from it) are not instant and take a day or two sometimes.

The mint mobile SIM did not work for some reason. On checking their system, Hello said that they have a different SIM # listed on there which means that a new SIM is listed. This was yesterday when the rep said that a new SIM will be shipped out. I have not received any email on that as of now 24 hours later.
It's possible that while Sprint's and T-Mobile's networks have merged, the original T-Mobile/Mint sims will not work so an updated one is needed. Good luck to you. I have not had to have one of their sims shipped to me. Please keep us posted on how it all works out.

Hello claims to have TMobile in addition to Sprint but in actual fact wants you to activate only on Sprint because it is cheaper for them, according to many reports.

Sprint and TMobile's networks have not been merged - the merger is for the most part at the corporate level so far. The stores will offer unified branding by August 1 but still not the networks except for S20's (all of which have been moved to the TMobile network). The stores will be able to access both networks.

Here are some concerning threads about Hello

I'm currently stuck in India and my BYOD plan is ending. I'm not using the phone much. But since i need to preserve my mobile number, i want to transfer to another cheaper provider.
Can anyone let know what is the cheapest provider with roaming. ( i just need free incoming txts) ?

I would suggest porting the number to Google Voice. You would need some U.S. cellular number as well for formal setup purposes. See https://toomanyadapters.com/google-voice-travel/

However, once you have it set up, you could actually take all calls and texts in the GV app instead, even while using say a local Indian provider. Technically speaking, Google Voice will not forward to an Indian number but you do not need it to do so. You can receive calls and texts in the app on the phone.

Other than that there is Tello paygo for example.

Repped. Thanks. Yah I was trying the GV route, but GV says that my Area code is not supported for porting. My area code is 309.
I;m not sure if there is another way GV can enable the porting request?

Oh that's a big problem then!

Does it say the area is not supported or that the area code is not supported? Those are actually different things.

Either way, I guess you are out of luck with GV if you have to use that number. In which case you could look at https://prepaidcompare.net/ for a low cost carrier.
