Protip: If your kids misbehave, Quikrete also sells a fast-setting concrete to give all their digging toys (and maybe their hands) the ol' Han Solo treatment.
I don't know what your project is, but before spending ~$50 on bagged sand you might want to contact a local place that sells sand/gravel/mulch by the yard. It's ~$30/yd which is over 3x the amount of sand as 16 bags.
Don't test it like that couple did with the book. shake head

several years ago i filled a couple of these with sand: http://www.homedepot.com/p/The-Ho.../100087613

makes for a great clearing bucket in the garage or the back yard when you want to clear your weapons or make them safe.

In for 16!

Perfect timing for my planned weekend project.
My local (55379) retail price is $2.97 but the sales price still saved me 33% @ $2.00 per bag with free store pick up. Thanks OP

I've always wondered how you handle vacuuming your aquarium with sand vs gravel.

Do you just use your hand, stir it up, and let the filter catch it?

This stuff is the best sand for sandboxes. I looked at some other stuff from Menards that contains silica and says "do not use around children" even though it was marketed as play sand. This stuff is very dusty at first but when watered down it becomes good to play in and make castles with.
