Mega-pissed off: Seat Belt Ticket - what next ...

2,046 778 November 22, 2008 at 03:44 PM in Chat
If this thread turns into a rabble mind-blindingly saying "oh, you need to wear your safety belt" than you can have this thread. If I dont want to wear a seat belt and I am driving alone, it is my business, not the states. Seat belt violations are what they are in some states (and some states dont consider it a primary violation, so they can't stop you for that alone) because when uninsured drivers go splat, its the state that has to pay for it. So, they came up with this fine to pay that and its another reason for them to stop you, as if they dont have enough bs in their traffic code. So that's it ... there is no discussion to be had or wanted to be had. This thread AINT for that.

Anyway ...

While coming to a traffic light, an officer hiding behind some cars at the street corner like a damn stalker pops out and starts shining a flashlight in cars to see if everyone has their belts on. This is friken insane to me. And I am thinking of the following:

1. This ticket wont likely be entered into the court for 2 weeks. I am moving next week and can get a license in another state. It's also a non-moving violation. In all likelihood, when I get the new states license there will be no way for them to know, for those reasons, and I do not believe there is a nationwide database setup at this time. So, I will just blow off the ticket, thank you very much. Hope you enjoyed wasting your time writing it. The state can send as many letters as they want, they will make good kindling, and I doubt I'll be in any trouble with the new state for a non moving violation. If I am, screw it, I'll walk. If they issue a bench warrant, I'll have a new license in a new state with a new address. I doubt that new address, etc will be in their system, so who cares.

2. When I return to this town, I will no longer go downtown via main roads, nor will I buy any food, gas, etc from this town. I have already written a note to go out to the clerks office stating as much: that while they get this tax money, I will make sure they get nothing else that I can avoid, therefore, in the long run, you lose. Suck it. And if they dont read it, I could give a damn, it's still getting done.

3. Tinting my windows triple black. If you want to see if Im wearing my seatbelt, you better have superman hovering over me or a sledge hammer.

Any other viable suggestions ... have at it. Still want to whine about how "you need to wear your seat belt?" What the hell is wrong with you? Do you smoke? Do you drink? Do you drive while talking on your cell phone? Do you eat a lot of fast food? Yeah, go whine about that to yourself and assert how you'll change tomorrow.

Doh Mopeds don't have seatbelts.
If you want to talk safety, how many motorcyclists do not have a license? A lot. How many don't wear helmets? A lot. If the cops want to play peekaboo at street corners and you safety folk want to profess your love for safety, strike up the band for that cause. Or, gee, I dunno, drunk driving? Anyway, enjoy your thread ... Im moving on.

? Really? Wow .. didnt know ...wow. Of course, not wearing a helmet isnt illegal in, at least, Texas and Illinois.

I hope Thornton, Nabokov and Clowe retire midseason. Or are made illegal.

In many states your heavily tinted windows will earn you another ticket. So even your "rational action" isn't very rational, but hey, have at it.

And I think motorcyclists that don't wear a helmet are just a stupid as drivers that don't wear a seat belt.

Next comparison

I'll obviously have to check out the states law, as I am aware that some states have this .. along with neon restrictions and other such addons. This bit is at least constructive .. thanks.

There are plenty of internet pharmacies Thumbsup No need to even leave the comforts of your home (therefore, no need to snap on that seat belt!)
