Up until now, wireless CarPlay has only been available in the 2017 BMW lineup. This is the first aftermarket unit to introduce a solution for existing cars. It was just launched and retails for $699 in most places. No other vendor is offering a promotional credit of this kind with this unit. ($200 Newegg Promotional Gift Card).
Many CarPlay users are fine with having to plug in their device via lightning cable every time they get in their car. They even welcome the chance to charge their devices while they drive. Other users, like me, dread having to plug in every time, specially for short trips. This deal is for those people. If you hate apple or have no interest in CarPlay, there is no need to turn this into a flaming thread. Just move on.

Of course not Wireless CarPlay though.
And just FYI, its successor (or higher end version?), the ILX-207, looks like it will have HD radio and Android Auto compatibility.
EDIT: http://alpine-usa.com/company/pre...v-systems/ This article, where I got my info, mentions the ILX-207, but judging by the release date, it seems they are referring to the ILX-107?? I'm a little confused now... are the 107 and 207 two separate receivers both being released soon?

That is correct. There is also a dedicated siri button which you can also map to the steering wheel using an iDatalink Maestro accessory. This means your car is now Siri enabled. You can have her read your texts to you or compose new ones by dictating them to her. Ask her to make a phone call for you, or ask her where the nearest gas station or restaurant is and have her take you there via apple maps without even taking your hands off the wheel.
