Lenovo/Motorola has officially announced they will only promise one "major" update for G series, and none for E series. Considering it is coming with 7.1, it will only get Oreo. Ideally it should have come equipped with Oreo at this stage.
OTOH, I haven't received any OS updates for my Amazon branded G5 yet with the exception of one security update

Thanks!

No Newegg, but there's B&H.

So, besides the dual camera, what makes this better than the G5+

Nicer, more premium design. But that's about it.

Oh, something else everyone should know:

Motorola's idiotic policy is for their phones to receive one major update (i.e. Android 7 to 8) and then your phone is abandoned for good.

Now that I know this policy, my next phones may not be from Motorola ever again. However, regardless of how I feel about it, it is knowledge that everyone even thinking of buying a Motorola phone should know.

The most obvious differences:
Slightly larger screen 5.5" vs 5.2"
More RAM in the 32GB version: 3GB vs 2GB (but the G5+ 64GB have been on sale for $230)

There might be other.

Hmm, Aren't most mid range phones obsolete anyway in a couple of years ?

In terms of usability, no. Qualcomm just choses to stop releasing updated drivers for their older SoCs and OEMs abandon support - regardless of how much useful performance still exists in the chip itself.

You can still use Android Pay for apps like instacart and Uber. Just not swipe at retail POS.
