Seems there's a VR price war. Oculus lowered their print to $400 to fend off the Windows headsets that, at the time, were due out in a few months at that price point. Now Oculus is planning to lower it to $350 for BF at various retailers. Well... Microsoft beat them to the punch at $350. All Microsoft headsets, except for the Samsung, are now $50 off at the Microsoft Store and possibly elsewhere. BB is also selling the Dell Visor for $50 off.
These are all 63mm IPD headsets. Fixed. So keep that in mind.
It's confirmed that they run SteamVR and Oculus Software through Revive. People are already doing it.
True to it's word, Microsoft has made these headsets work decently on low end hardware. Unlike the Rift and Vive which require at least 1050Tis and above, these Microsoft headsets run on machines even with integrated graphics. Of course, the experience is better the better the hardware. But people have played games like Space Pirate Trainer on old 940mx laptops and they say it works well enough. A 940mx has 1/5th of the minimum speed required by an Oculus Rift.

HP ($400)

Dell is currently OOS at Microsoft, so get it from BB for the same price ($400)

Update: If you have Amex and the BB $25 back on $250 promo, PM it at BB to knock another $25 off.

Yes it is. Samsung seems like the best bet but not an SD.
If anyone has used this, is it all it sounds like it is? My daughter would drop dead if something like this showed up under the tree for christmas.

Overall I am happy with them, but it is early "life" SteamVR isn't even officially released yet (I think Nov 15 it goes into public beta).
Games I have:
Paranormal Activity VR - Ground height issue (haven't had a chance to try since finding calibration above). Can play with controller though.
Forms - Really cool puzzle game.
Project Cars 2 - Great being in the cockpit of the car
Racket NX - Really fun VR Paddle game.
The PC World article is good but they're wrong when they say no WMR headsets have headphones as the Samsung one does.
Just be aware that running on lower spec's can produce stutter, or run at lower than recommended refresh rate (60Hz, rather than 90Hz), which can greatly increase the risk of motion sickness. Not to mention, it may limit what VR games you'll be able to play.
The minimum spec for Mixed Reality is "GPU: Integrated Intel® HD Graphics 620 (GT2) equivalent or greater DX12 API Capable GPU". Yes, integrated graphics. That's oppose to a 1050ti for a Rift.
