System notes:
Does not include an OS, monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.

Ok I have a few things to say about this model, not that I complaining, at $300 it's well worth it, hell the 8GB ECC ram stick make it a sweet deal due to current RAM price.

- You are limited to 4 onboard SATA ports (including the DVD drive), so if you use that, 3 hard drives MAX.
- The included power supply 290W have a Dell proprietary 8-pin ATX (instead of the standard 24 pin ATX), if you want to upgrade, buy a adapter on ebay
- the included 1TB is painfully slow as boot drive, use SSD
- southbridge chip could use a passive heatsink in case you are maxing out SATA/PCI ports with graphic card, NIC card, and more SATA cards

Yes, the T20 has variances in comparison to its successor (T30). Here's a post from 2015 for that model: https://slickdeals.net/f/7976933

Most notably (among other changes):

T20:

Intel Xeon E3-1225 v3 3.2GHz 22nm 84W Quad Core CPU (Haswell)
4GB 1600MHz DDR3
4x USB 3.0 ports
T30:

Intel Xeon E3-1225 v5 3.3GHz 14nm 80W Quad-Core CPU (Skylake)
8GB 2400 MT/s DDR4
6x USB 3.0 ports
Hope this helps Smilie

I let the other deal expire on purpose to avoid purchasing. I might finally bite. Or, just need to stay off slickdeals.

I've read at idle its around ~30watts with 2 WD Reds installed.

Sigh... Wish this thing had the power cables and SATA ports to support 6 SATA hard drives...

YMMV Amex offers MR cards for 5000 MR points back after $299 spend, which is potentially better.

There's a big following for the T20 which is nearly identical. I've seen some pretty good mods for the T30. You could add a SATA card and split the power cables. You'd have to get creative with the mounting

Why is this so expensive? I bought this exact machine two years ago (Dec 2015) for less from Dell via a slickdeals post.

Good deal.. There's a CB site offering 10% cash back also, so looking at a pretty slick $270 + tax server.

That's what I was thinking. May not have been 8GB ram, but otherwise looked the same..

PS AMEX last year had 100 back on 300 spend on BOTH of my AMEX cards, whereas neither of my cards is being offered that 50 on 299+ spend (I considered getting a third AMEX in case last year's deal came back, but luckily I passed on it!)

I was looking for this after missing the $329 deal. Glad I missed that one because $299 w/ 10% CB is a lot better.
