A basic brewing kit. Northern Brewer item #7601 [northernbrewer.com]
A recipe kit [northernbrewer.com]. I would suggest a porter or a stout for your first brew, as dark brews are very forgiving of beginner mistakes. I would suggest using US-05 dry yeast.
A fermometer, NB item #7411 [northernbrewer.com]
Starsan Sanitizer, NB item #7930 [northernbrewer.com]
I would *highly* suggest some Fermcap-S, unless you like scrubbing nasty gooey dried up wort off your stovetop, NB item #9136 [northernbrewer.com]

Um...Brewing my own means driving to the carry-out and pulling the Bud Light Lime out of the fridge. On a wild night, I go with Killians.

So I wound up with a batch that is pretty over carbonated. Like you lose 1/3 to 1/2 of it in foam when you open one. Is there anything I can do at this point or just make sure to have a really big glass?
Bottled or kegged? Only with kegged beer is there something you can do.

Bottled. Yeah I figured as much. Just kind of odd, no bottle bombs, the batch before and after are just fine (different recipe but still I used the same amount of corn surgar). Aw well. It's the nature of home brew to come up with variations.

Was your fermentation temp and post ferm temps the same as usual? Did your beer reach terminal gravity? Beer could of been still fermenting or it could of had more residual co2 in it.

To add to what Matt said, I would chill those over carbed bottles just in case they are still fermenting. Bottle bombs suck.....although funny months down the road.

So I broke my hydrometer months ago and have been too lazy to replace it so I don't really do readings. I usually just give it two weeks after the bubbling stop in the check valve. Meh I know, but it's how I do things. Probably a good idea though to get the rest of them in the fridge though. The weather is starting to warm up here in AZ.

I'm going to be insulating my garage door in an attempt to keep my garage cooler. I have my fermenting fridge, kegerator, and grain all out in the garage. It gets near 90 out there in the summer.

Psshtt, It suppose to hit 90 here by this weekend. We got extra insulation put in when the house was built but both garages are on the south side of the house too so they heat up pretty good.

Still 72-82 here. But, we'll be getting there soon. I hate the summer time.

We've actually had a really mild spring. It's only been in the 90's a few times. Last year I think we had already hit 100 but this time. Summers here suck but then the winters are great. It's a trade off.

Same here. I was loving brewing in the "winter". We can't really call it a winter since a cold night here is 45. My wife acts like it's sub zero temps when it drops under 50.
