SlickdealsForumsDeal TalkMonoprice: 15-Watt 1x12 Guitar Combo Tube Amplifier with Celestion Speaker & Spring Reverb for $143.99 after promo code JOLLY with Free Shipping
I have ordered 2 of these and both arrived with a pushed in grille. Apparently the board that the speaker is attached to breaks when the box is dropped during shipping. I actually like the amp otherwise.
How is this amp for nodding? Wife donated my Epiphone Valve Jr. when we moved and I miss that.
Pretty good right out of the box but I put in JJ tubes and a green beret. Also worth having someone bias the amp - In addition to the thread above there is FB closed group you can join - https://www.facebook.com/groups/1...p_activity
As a musician for over 25 years, I don't understand the draw of this. Why not go somewhere like Guitar Center and try out what you want. The average 15 inch speaker amp would likely run around $300, but you can find a good used one for probably $125 to $150. Quality would be much better, and you would be able to listen to it, which makes all the difference in the world.
I picked up one on Black Friday. It's a terrific little amp, especially after you swap the speaker. I had a pair of Panama AV30s I had picked up on a bogo deal a while back and dropped one in. It really opens up the amp. The Seventy 80 is just kinda bland sounding. As others have said, It's got a Vox flavor, but not nearly as chimey. While not the greatest fit & finish, it's certainly worth trying out for $150. You'd be hard pressed to plug into anything in it's class @ Guitar Center for under $400 retail.

Average 15" speaker am!? Nothing is average about that, only two commercial amps I know of that come stock with 15's. As for the price, you might get a few amps in this price range used, but they'll be limited in specs like an epic valve jr.

Definitely don't play guitar then...
1. Guitar Center is crap
2. Good luck finding any 15 watt tube combo amps used for $150 that will compare with this NEW for $150. Sure, you could find any myriad of practice amps or modelling solid state amps but the draw of this is TUBES and that it is fairly easy to mod.
3. How many guitar amps have you seen with 15" speakers?

As for modding, here is a thread about that.

Yeah, the rumor is that the older model of this was basically a Laney Cub. Btw, I LOVE my Laney GH50L (I know, totally different class of amp)

Thanks for the info. I've been eyeing this amp for a while but much prefer fender tones over vox.
