Easy to GSM (AT&T and T-Mobile) unlock for about $2 by buying a code on ebay. Just search ebay for "Verizon Moto E4 unlock". To answer everyone who wonders if it will work on your provider, the answer is: If your provider uses AT&T or T-mobile, then YES it will work after you unlock the phone.

This phone will NOT work on Sprint, even after being unlocked.

This older thread has info about the unlocking procedure. You might want to check out the Wiki
https://slickdeals.net/f/10418732-select-walmart-stores-16gb-moto-e4-verizon-prepaid-smartphone-39-90-w-free-store-pickup?src=SiteSearchV2Algo

but basically it's this:
1.Do NOT turn on the phone until after you remove the included Verizon sim.
2. Buy the code on ebay, Message your IMEI to the seller.
3. Insert a different GSM sim into phone. You will get a popup with number pad. Enter code. Reboot phone (may not be necessary).

Use Chase card for 5% CB
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

WiFI Calling Verizon-only no WiFI Calling for ATT/TMobile
MicroSD Yes

RAM 2GB
*IMEI 353308082.. It has band 7, capable of 4G LTE in Europe

FREE USE OPTION
Use your phone for free (as long as you have wifi) just use:
1. Google Voice (to get a free phone number assigned to your phone via your gmail account)
2. Hangouts Dialer (to use your phone and google voice to make/receive free calls throughout USA and CANADA)

Through WIFI to use the inactivated phone for free. Just download the Google Voice app and the Hangouts Dialer app from google play store. All you need is wifi (which is everywhere if you have optimum online / or probably at your house)

With this option you receive
-a phone number that is connected to your device
-free outgoing and incoming calls from USA and CANADA
-free call forwarding to any other phone (so after 2 rings it'll forward to another phone)
-free voicemail transcribed to text and sent to any phone number

UNLOCK INSTRUCTIONS
credit = Elementary_Watson

- The phone comes without the battery installed (less chance of turning it on with the sim card in it.)
- Do NOT turn on phone with the included Verizon Prepaid SIM installed or you will be locked into Verizon Prepaid for 6 months
- Tweezers or needle nose pliers can help remove SIM once loosened by your fingernail.

1. Note 15 digit IMEI on box.
2. Order unlock code on Ebay giving IMEI to seller.
3. After unlock code received via email from Ebay seller, open package, take out verizon sim card, insert non verizon sim card (optional), insert battery.
4. Turn on phone and enter unlock code.
5. Continue with setup.
6. For some reason If u are unable to make/receive calls switch to 3G and back to LTE do it while other SIM is on the phone.

*** You can also unlock the phone with no SIM card inserted by turning phone on, going through initial setup (all can be skipped for later setup as well), going to Settings / Wireless and Networks / More / Cellular Networks / Change Carrier and then entering your unlock code. (This entry goes away once phone is unlocked). ***

* ebay seller unlock code turn around time can be up to 4 days, cost is usually around 2 dollars. search "Unlock Code Unlocking Motorola Moto E Moto E4 Verizon USA XT1767 MOTXT1767PP" on ebay. seller mobunlockingmaster has been a popular seller throughout this thread (it took me 4 days but others as short as 20 min to receive unlock code)

This phone is easily unlockable with a $2 code purchased on ebay. It can then be used on any T-Mobile or AT&T pre-paid networks, including the MVNOs like Cricket, H2O, Simple Mobile, Mintsim, MetroPCS, etc.. Read the OP for a link to an unlock code merchant and basic instructions how to use it.

PHONE RECOMMENDATIONS

Regarding Verizon prepaids, a comment from an experienced member. Thanks Groch
After being unocked mine works perfectly on Xfinity Mobile, and since they use Verizon towers my guess is it would work perfectly on Red Pocket Too.
Note, you have to already have an Xfinity Mobile Sim cause I do not think you can get a sim unless you buy a phone from them.
You have to unlock first, see OP discussion for that

Other things to note:
* requires $2 unlock on eBay for unlocking for GSM (ATT/TMobile and respective MVNO's)
* many have had luck with swapping in active SIMs from Verizon MVNO's like PagePlus (YMMV, see below for official usage)
* has a very fast fingerprint scanner
* jimx200 suggests downloading Open Camera for a better camera experience/quality

How to use on Verizon Postpaid and MVNO's

* pay 12 months of prepaid service (old official)
* pay 1 month of prepaid service (unofficial, but good success rate)
* pay $XX amount on back of box (new official)
* put in an active prepaid SIM, request for unlock a month later (unofficial, low success rate)
* call CSR and ask them to whitelist for postpaid without paying anything (rare, must be extremely lucky)
* Using a postpaid SIM without doing one of the above will get you hotlined within 0-60 days.

*** Read about ADB [xda-developers.com] and visit XDA prior to attempting the following. Removing all Verizon branded apps from your phone is not necessary for full function of your phone. Most android users enjoy having a fully modifiable device and thus do so because they can.
The process below is fully reversible by performing a hard reset on your phone.

1. download the following file: debloat MOTXT1767PP USA.zip [mega.nz] and unzip it to your desktop *

2. open folder, click on MotorolaDeviceManager_2.5.4 to install it onto your computer.

3. If you have a sim card in your phone connect to wifi and turn off mobile data

4. on your phone, open app drawer, go to settings, scroll all the way down, and then tap about phone, scroll down, then tap build number 5 times, you will get the developer options enabled. From there hit the back button once, tap developer options, scroll down to debugging menu, click on USB debugging, click ok to allow USB debugging. click the home button.

5. Then connect your phone to the computer, swipe down on your phone from the top, click on USB charging for this device, click on second option "transfer files"

6. open folder you unzipped, click on platform-tools, double click debloat, wait for all processes to run until you see "the debloating has been completed. Pease restart your phone. press any key to continue"

7. press any key on your keyboard, unplug your phone, restart your phone.

* Before you continue you may want to open the folder you unzipped, open platform-tools, right click debloat and select edit, and compare the commands to the following (they should be the exact same commands, otherwise the file has been changed and I would advise not continuing)

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.motorola.setupwizard.phoneservice

I just tested this (after eBay unlocked) in South Korea (Seoul and few other southern cities) and it works on KT, SKT, and LGU+ all 3 networks with 4G LTE. I thought some people may be interested in this. Smilie

I have one that I unlocked and use with a Tmo line, but there is no Band 12 in my area, so I'm not positive. Is there a way of testing for it?

Edit: I just tried out an app called LTE Discovery but it only tells me I'm getting LTE, not which band.

Why can't any store keep this in stock for any normal length of time?

I asked this before but didn't get a response. Can someone confirm Verizon will still whitelist this for use on postpaid if you activate it for one month on prepaid?
