Save another 3-4% with some of the popular link through rebate sites. Dell i3 8100 version with 8gb RAM can be had for $449. Seems reasonable as this new i3 smacks last year's i5 7400 according to Usersbench.com results.

Yes, the new i3 is decent compared to previous gens. Especially for the casual PC user. RAM prices have been high for some time now. Only thing I would change with either one would be to add a SSD drive.

I wonder why there's no option to add an SSD

It's there, you just have to scroll down to configure

There are several SSD options. Just expand up the "Components" section.

You're right! Tried to do this last night and the option wasn't available, I swear...

Thanks and repped!

Sounds pretty good to me. The new i5 chips are 6-core CPUs, and the 8400 seems to be the sweet spot with regards to being relatively inexpensive while still quite powerful.

edit: Plus these chips are hard to find (and are ~$30 more expensive than the retail of $180), *and* there are no cheap motherboards for it if you wanted to build it yourself.

This i5 is perfect for a buddy at work who's jealous of the dell I got a couple weeks back. With the added i5, 256ssd and better network card it's $679. Not bad, and he doesn't need more ram or discreet gpu.

Dang, I wish I were able to buy my next desktop right now.

i7-8700
16GB RAM
2TB HDD

Very slick at $849.99. WOW.

Anyone know how long the deal is good for?

Dell is a huge fan of running a great deal for days beyond their current inventory...so it probably won't go away for a couple days (my best guess)

Seems ok but at this price I'd expect at least SOME graphics card... certainly not a gamer card but something above the integrated Intel HD.

Yeah, that is a good deal. I got the Inspiron 5675 deal for the same price. If I had a DeLorean, I'd go back and never purchase the 5675. I had an XPS prior to the Inspiron, but thought I'd take a chance. Dell used a lot of smoke and mirrors with the specs for the 5765. I'd recommend this XPS with the i7-8700 and 16 RAM upgrade.
