Lowest price according to 3 dromedaries. It is a great gift for pre-teens, YA and adults alike. I picked up 2 sets for gifts.

Maybe. I didn't read them all, but while I was an avid sci-fi fan at that age (40+ years ago) and not the most typical-of-that-era "macho" young boys, I thought they were kind of on the, for lack of a better word, smarmy side when I read them around that age. (And by 12-13, I wouldn't have had any interest in them at all...) As far as general American cultural norms are concerned (even today, never mind 40 years ago), girls mostly like these more than boys...

They're definitely too "sophisticated" for most 7 year olds, even today's allegedly-more-sophisticated children, at least as far as doing more than following the general factual outline of the stories is concerned.. And unless they're reading well above grade level, seven year olds would probably actually have some trouble reading through them on their own, much less "getting" anything but the bare storyline. I think the "target" age range is more like 10 (or maybe 9) to -13 year olds...

Pretty sure that's when I read them. I remember feeling they were a bit mature for me, so gauge it by that.
