Install Process:
Download - The approx 478 megabyte HR Block 2017 ISO may take some time to download from mega.nz. PLEASE NOTE, I am using a free MEGA account so transfers may be limited - if someone else can copy and upload a mirror copy, that would be appreciated

Mount or Uncompress ISO - The downloaded file is an ISO - a cd consolidated into a single file. Windows 8 and 10 will natively mount an ISO as a CD drive, just double click the downloaded ISO and it shows as a drive letter. If you don't have windows 8 or 10 you need to extract the ISO to a folder on your system. Download and install a program like 7-zip to extract all of the contents of the ISO to a folder on your computer.
Run the installer - From the mounted or extracted ISO run tcauto.exe or tccheck.exe
Checkout - Press choose software. Add your version to the cart. Checkout. Backout to get the $5 discount offer
HR Block sent me a CD, can I use that?
Yes, use one of the application.xml files to replace your existing application.xml. Once this is done, then run tcauto.exe from the extracted folder.

Just confirming that you can change versions after the backout - paid $4.95 for Federal Only. After returning to cart, I used the "What version do I need" wizard button at the top. It asks a few question - last one being about filing a state return, then you pick the Fed only.
Can OP/someone please provide the MD5 checksum for HRblock.iso? Thanks.
You can get 3rd party MD5 checksum or use MS FCIV tool [microsoft.com].
FCIV -md5 -sha1 c:\temp\[filename]
State e-file is not included.
Make sure you don't have the registry key
You will have to manually enter your credit card number, if you paste it in (like from a Virtual CC/Wallet) it will not accept it and you will see a red X. The CC has to be entered one digit at a time for the algorithm to recognize it as a valid CC which will enable the purchase button.
It's possible to get Premium + State for $14.95. Follow the steps in the original deal post with Deluxe + State, then click Purchase. (don't worry, there will be another screen to confirm) You'll get a pop-up asking if you want to upgrade to Premium + State for an additional upgrade discount. Do that and with the extra $5 upgrade discount it works out to $14.95.

This isn't allowed by H&R Block, it's fraud, etc.

I knew someone will come up w/ the same "backout" trick for a fair & an acceptable price ($9.95). I am very glad my hero "unclebisbest" has found the way.
I always prefer the package with the state e-file included also as the $20 (state e-file) + the $10 is usually about $15 more than the package with the state e-file included. Holding out for that application.xml to become available also but TU for the OP on this awesome deal as I'll go with it if the other one doesn't come to fruition.
