I bought a 16 pack Amazonbasics rechargeables a couple of years ago. About half of them died within the year. Never buying Amazonbasics batteries again.
from reading previous posts, it is my understanding that the 8pk are made in Japan and are rebranded eneloops. The 12 pks are made in china and poorer in quality than the ones made by FDK in japan.
That guy clearly knows what he is talking about. HE DID THE RESEARCH !

But yea... those don't exist.

Just as an FYI I have ordered the Amazon basics AAA 12 pack a couple times for $12 if looking for a tad bit larger quantity. Actually they are the same price now: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-AAA-Rechargeable-Batteries-12-Pack/dp/B007B9NXAC/ref=sr_1_1_sspa... [amazon.com] Not sure if they are different than the one op is mentioning or not but seem to work well in rechargeable items around my home.

reviews seem mixed. Are they good enough for solar lights? I've tried different brands and considering going with EN'ps, but these are cheaper.

I know Amazon has changed up their packaging, but the OPs deal does say "Made in Japan" on the description FWIW. These ones seem to be white and not carry that same description.

Seems like a good price for the batteries, but what about getting a cheap charger for them?

Not really helpful now, but there was that Costco Eneloop charger and battery deal that seemed decent.
