The Blue Jackets have played the Caps tougher then I ever expected. I don't think I ever remember a series where 4 out of the 5 games went to OT and one of those was double OT.

I was hoping for the Pens to gain home ice but that didn't mean much in this series so hopefully the Blue Jackets force a game 7. We have a few players banged up and the extra days could be a huge benefit down the road.

I never dreamed after they fell behind 4-2 that we would end up winning 8-5.

I am a Happy Camper at least for today.

Honestly. If they hadn't tied it at 4 in the 2nd period, I was planning to cut grass instead of watching the 3rd. I know that may come off as a fair weather fan type of thing, but a few years back I came to the realization that my life shouldn't revolve around professional sports. I am a fan that wants them to win, but if I am taking time away from something to watch a game I want to enjoy it.

Watching a local sports show and the entire panel was complaining about the Playoff officiating. They weren't being homers and just complaining about penalties not being called in favor of the Pens either. Letang was singled out for stupid plays, one leading to a penalty and the one at the end of the game that should have been called a penalty.

It doesn't matter. The Caps would find a way to lose even if Crosby, Malkin, Guentzel, Kessel, and Murray all slipped on soap in the shower and couldn't play in the next round. laugh out loud

One of our local sports talk guys just quoted the legendary Bob Prince while discussing this upcoming series. Not sure if I have it exact, but basically it goes "the longer you lose the closer you are to winning, and the longer you win the closer you are to losing."

According to this guy, the Pens have won 10 out of the last 11 series (regular season & playoffs included) against the Caps.

Like the sports guy said, the Caps are eventually going to break that trend. Hopefully it is not this season. Smilie
