It's a combo deal for i5-8600 Six-Core CPU (non-K) and Gigabyte H370M motherboard. You have to pay $229 upfront minus $15 rebate [frys.com] for $214 total with free shipping.
Shipping is usually not available for a long time at Frys, local pickup is not available now, so once shipping option is out - it's gone.
The motherboard is $85 at Newegg with good reviews. Intel i5-8600 is $220 @ Newegg, so it's a free nice motherboard after rebate.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Free Shipping available (and so far as I can tell, no coupon code needed) Not usual for Frys.

I just ordered one shipped free out of state, no tax.

There was an i3-8100 deal with a different motherboard a few days ago, but they would not ship that one. I think they figure the profit is the RAM and other stuff you buy while you're in the store.

There was earlier an i5-8600 but with a different more expensive motherboard.

What 16 GB RAM kit would be good to pair with this combo?

How are we feeling about Intel stuff lately? Are the new processors immune to the Spectre stuff? I don't mean patched, but I mean is the architecture something that makes it immune without the slowdowns the patch will provde?

No! Hardware patched processors will not be out till later in the year.

In-hardware fixes aren't yet available for any current generations of processors.

No, and it's not gonna happen soon. Intel is faster, because their processors have better instruction prediction, hence the Spectre and Meltdown vulnerability. AMD is relying more on brute force. It will take major architectural redesign to become "immune", a change similar to the transition from Pentium to Core. At the moment, Intel is at some iteration of Core architecture with long pipelines, wide decoders, deep predictions.
