Beware of the horrible screen quality. Go see it first to make sure it is ok for you. Even with the various profile posted online , it is average minus at best especially the LG one, the AOC is better (slightly) color wise and overclockable.

Sad because it is a fine damn and well priced laptop otherwise.

I bought this 11 days ago with edu coupon. The sale price is 50 less now. Will they price match?

Just read through the first 3 pages of reviews on Bestbuy.com product page. Practically no one used the display as a negative. A couple people said "it could be better" (what can't?), and some even said the viewing angles were good.

I have not seen it, and not sure if you have or are just going by what others have said, but those that have bought it don't think the display is bad enough to mention it or take a star away from their review (which most gave it 5 stars). So it is "horrible" or is it that "it could be better"?

Since their own sale price has lowered, then yes, they should price match (regardless of student discount, which is the same $100 student discount from 11 days ago).

If they give you any issues, just threaten to return it!

It's a run-of-the-mill average IPS screen, about 60% sRGB/45-ish% Adobe RGB coverage but usable. Keeps costs low. There are TN screens that are noticably worse, but there are also better IPS screens with 90%+ sRGB/60%+ Adobe RGB coverage that do look better.

Check reviews that provide color space coverage numbers - those give an objective view of screen color accuracy.

Two things worth digging into: Is the SSD a SATA or PCIe? Both are SSD in M2. form factor but PCIe (NVMe) can be 5x faster than SATA drives.

Is the 8GB available as two 4GB sticks or one stick for easy upgrade to 16GB or 24GB?

I bought a G7 earlier and found SATA and 2x sticks so returned it. Not sure about this one.

dell website indicates the 8gb configuration is 2x4gb sticks of ram, so the 16gb model is probably a better deal unless you have access to cheap ram

Can't figure out the difference between similarly configured G5 and G7 laptops...apart from the G5 being $100 less.

Here [dell.com] is a compare of the two.

Anyone able to differentiate where this G5 and this G7 are different (apart from color choices)?

Word of advice, answer is no, same happened to me they are PITA with price match. Return/rebuy. They accepted my request then 10days after sale said nope we dont match because before coupon price is higher than price purchased originally.

Saw the model yesterday and the screen isn't horrible, but it could be better of course. Maximum brightness isn't very high and the color reproduction isn't that great but nobody is buying this to do premier content creation.

Great price for 8750H + GTX 1060 (maxq).

From what I read it's basically that you can configure the G7 with the i9 proc if you want?
