Remember: Sprint Flex's 18-Month Flex Lease is really a lease to use the phone for 18 months. You don't own the phone after the 18 month period. After 18 months, you have the option to buy the phone at 25% of the sale price. After 18 months, if you do not log in and select the buy option, you will continue to pay $41.67+ a month forever and will not count toward the purchase price of the phone..

I would do this but too bad Sprint service sucks in the area I live in.
This is a great deal for those on regular Sprint plans. I just signed up for the free 1 year plan earlier today (by the way, it's just been extended again to remain free for new signups until 11/30/2019).

What I noticed about Sprint service so far is that the LTE signal gets weak really fast because they are using mid/high band spectrum for it. So sometimes music streaming is slow or unresponsive, and sometimes Siri can't even call a number for me because the data connection has trouble when the signal is very weak. However, when in a phone call and the connection drops down to 1x the signal gets much stronger (I'm guessing they are using their 800mhz spectrum for that). So that's probably why Sprint still hasn't launched VoLTE, because it would be a disaster since there will be no fallback to 1x when the LTE signal gets weak.
Issue is these deals apply as bill credits on the account over a 18 month period instead of being given as a lump at one time. Canceling would make you ineligible for the credit, meaning you'd end up paying for the device.

How does it work if I trade in my s8+ and cancel the service after two months? How much balance do I have to pay? Anyone has any idea? Experience?

1X
CDMA2000 1X (IS-2000), also known as 1x and 1xRTT, is the core CDMA2000 wireless air interface standard. The designation "1x", meaning 1 times Radio Transmission Technology, indicates the same radio frequency (RF) bandwidth as IS-95: a duplex pair of 1.25 MHz radio channels. 1xRTT almost doubles the capacity of IS-95 by adding 64 more traffic channels to the forward link, orthogonal to (in quadrature with) the original set of 64. The 1X standard supports packet data speeds of up to 153 kbit/s with real world data transmission averaging 80–100 kbit/s in most commercial applications.[3] IMT-2000 also made changes to the data link layer for greater use of data services, including medium and link access control protocols and QoS. The IS-95 data link layer only provided "best efforts delivery" for data and circuit switched channel for voice (i.e., a voice frame once every 20 ms).

1x is a complete joke! Up to 153kbit/s

Wow, this is actually really good. $750 trade in credit over 18 months. And it works for existing customers not just new lines.

Does it work for BYOD 1-year free plans? At the end of 18 months, what's the buy out price? Any deals on 256GB?

256 GB is $150 one-time payment, but still $0/month. I have the same question on buy out price & unlock policy though.
