Hook them up to a USB port, these 12V fans running at 5V will produce virtually no noise, yet able to drop a router from 51°C - 59°C (2.4GHz - 5GHz) to 35°C - 45°C

Good value for cheap fans, but keep in mind:

Only 3 pin meaning no speed control
Doesn't move alot of air
Although it says silent, they are definitely audible since they are pwm

Wouldn't put these on a rad, but nice to get some cheap extra airflow in a budget case/build

Good fans to use with USB mod, so you can cool a cable modem or router or something =)

Is this fan 12V only? Can I run it at 5V with lower RPM?

Yes you can run at lower V. Have some running at 5v and 7v via the molex mod

Nice deal for some cheap fans. Sleeve bearing - so only vertical placement, right? Or can they be used in horizontal position also?

But Newegg charges sales tax in IL now? Dang it Mad

If you want them to last more than a few months, then yes, vertical is the only way you can mount these.

Thanks, that's what I remembered but wasn't sure. Will get some ball bearing fans for horizontal mounting... building a FreeNAS box with 8x8TB in RAIDZ2.
