This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

Hey, can anyone tell me what some awesome really cheap or free things are to buy at Target? I'm heading there tomorrow, and I wanted to get as much loot as possible, since a 30 mile drive more than once a month or so, it's not gonna happen.

Any suggestions?
really? I drive the 22 mi next to my closest ST almost daily and the 28 mi to my closest Randalls at least once a weeklaugh out loud Okay really I drive that distance to pick dd up from private school and I am just lucky that the ST, Shellie, 2 WAGS and a 2 CVS are all right there within 1 mi of the school and I have to pass most of them going to and coming from said school, heehee, seriously though before school, i would drive this distance twice a week for shopping, sometimes the deals are very worth it!

to be helpful, there is the meat q, print it out before you go as it is not longer on the Target site, and the motts tq is a good price heard it beeps on the flavors and only works beepless on the original flavor.

First of all I want to say thanks to everyone for their well wishes on the board and via PM. You guys are great. Today was an awesome day. We took DS to the Air & Space Museum and the Natural History Museum. They were fantastic and everyone had a great time. Tomorrow is the long drive home. I'm hoping that DH will drive most of the way because I brought a bunch of Qs to organize while we were on the road and I haven't touched them yet.

In other news - I just looked through the 4 papers DH got me last night and all of them only have SmartSource Qs. What the heck? And all the Qs and ads were sealed in a little bag and inserted into the center of the paper so I know they didn't fall out.

Thank you..! We did that last time, too.. but we're changing it up this time a little bit. We're going to bring drinks for morning time with us.. then we go back to our room at lunchtime to have lunch/nap/rest time before heading back out about 2:30. We have a meal plan this time that will take care of snacks in the afternoon, so we won't have to carry anything around. I think I took a change of clothes for her last time, too.. just in case of pull-up leaks or drink/food spills. Thank goodness I had sense enough to zip them into a Ziplock bag so I'd have the bag for the dirty clothes - if I hadn't done that, they would have gotten wet in the rain when everything else did.
1st) Mom of 4 and we did not come back to the room for naptime/lunch. It cut to much in to the day so we went napless, unless someone passed out in the stoller. then usuaully ended up going back to the hotel around 8, it worked well for 5 of the 7 days. 7 days was just too long.

2nd) We had the meal plan too. I tried to get every penny out of it that we could. DO NOT think it will cover your hunger for the whole trip! I REFUSED to use the snack credit for a 12oz bottle of soda --- there are sooo many food options that better served that $$, my dh doesnt eat brkfst so he would use a snack credit for it then in the end we had a whole extra credit each day to use on an extra sit down dinner.

We did splurge on the sovenior refillable cups at like $7 a piece but no one ever questioned us on our refills, even if we werent eating at our own hotel.

We ended up driving to ST and got drinks to carry in the parks and cereal/snacks for a couple of brkfsts.

With our meal plan we did: so many characters --
princess lunch in epcot
cindarella dinner at GF (both of these on my only dd's 4th bday)
character brkfst w/ Little einatiens/jojo at MGM
character brkfast w/ pooh at MK

If you are going to use your credits for brkfst I felt only the buffets were worth it. Plus, the wierd thing was that no matter where you ate at, ALL the food is the exact same as all the other places.

oh and if you have a special charater meal planned...double check your reservations at the front desk. My DD's Cindarella dinner on her bday was mistakenly canceled.....I was at the concergie sob and crying about my stoopit travel agent and my poor little girls bday is ruined, just ruined and the guy behind the counter was able to find me a table although not until 7:30pm -- which in my family is really late for dinner and good behavior but it all worked out great.

oh and we had dinner at the Moms 50's diner/kitchen in MGM and IT SUCKED!!!! the food was gross, the service was horrible, we were shoved into a tiny corner with no view of the rest of the diners, a tv or our waiter. Once he FINALLY took our order and told him of the meal plan, we never saw him again except for around the corner when he oohed and ahhed over his bigtop (12ppl) table in the other room, doing all kinds of fun crazy things with them, we were never checked on, we were never given refills, we were never offered dessert(which is an part of the meal plan that I have alreadt paid my money for) ....I was so pissed I told the manager that this was a horrible way to introduce us to the magic of disney...he got snippy with me and is like what do you want me to do? I said, I want my dessert to go and I dont want to pay for this meal with my credits. I felt as though once the waiter found out he's already getting his 18% from us for the meal plan he didnt care to come back.
B4 anyone says anything about my wining, I have worked the restaurant business from the bottom to the top for 14 years, so I know all the bs.

This is what we did and it worked well for us. No whining tired kiddos.

First of all I packed a huge cooler full of lunchmeats, fruits, veggie sticks. I made chicken 'fingers' potato salad, macaroni salad, etc.

Continental breakfast at hotel, then to the park. Rides, parades, shops, etc. Around 1:00 we went back to the room. Had lunch, took a swim (went in summer) and a short nap. Went back to the park around 4-5 did more rides, shops, and saw the night time parade.

Next day, same thing different park.

Third day we were tired and opted for the Disney water park. We didn't go back to the room that day. Actually, we all enjoyed it better than any of the other parks.

I found that the break and rest time was good for the kids. Having a cooler full of munchies helped stave off starvation.

Good list. If you are going to be out at night I would suggest some form of mosquito repellent (or a mosquito net over your stroller). They do get pretty numerous, especially after a good rain. We haven't had a good rain in a while (very dry conditions here - South FL). Also, make sure you have a lot of water. It gets very hot (it's the humidity - especially in Orlando area, it used to be swamp land) and you will most likely be sweating a lot (need to replace that sweat! Coverlaugh). Water at the park is ridiculous!! nod Make sure you reapply sunscreen every 20mins (recommended - especially if sweating a lot and playing in water). Wide brimmed hats are essential, too! It's great down here, but you will burn!! Wink Maybe bring some kind of aloe/cooling gel in case you do have sun burns to deal with.

I read on another thread that Redplum is no longer putting inserts in certain newspapers/cities. Washington being one of them. they are doing home mailers instead.

Yup, unfortunately we get it in the mail here. No Valassis in the Post. Sorry I didn't know you were planning to get a bunch or I would have warned you about it. Glad you had fun at the Air & Space and the Natural History museums though. Those are a couple of my favorite museums too. Smilie Have a safe trip back! hug

I found the best snack credits were at Downtown Disney and goofys candy factory. The make your own pretzel rods and rice krispie treats and the 3 marshmallows AND the HUGEEE oreos Smilie Smilie Smilie I would get a bunch at a time (there were 6 of us though) and take them back to the room and store in the fridge
