This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

Confused Probably more like it I offered Shrimp 'N Grits to a west coaster....they wouldn't have a clue. Pierogies are not traditional west coast food.

I wouldn't know, I don't live there. In MY past experiences, most people I've talked to on the west coast, don't know what a pierogi is.

They have a Shrimp N Grits festival every year in South Georgia that we drive up for. It's a hoot to say the least. I found a link on how to make shrimp n grits [wordpress.com]. Looks like too much work for me.

I'm not a shrimp eater, but my DH would probably LOVE it. He's a real southern boy. DS would eat grits every morning for breakfast if I let him.

Are you girls sure they don't have pierogis at T? I thought I just saw some this past weekend - Kasha or something like that? Maybe that was at Jewel when I went for my 10 boxes of Kellogg's cereal for $15 minus 10 $1 coupons plus 3 free gallons of milk. Are the Albies out there doing this killer deal?? So, 10 boxes of cereal (over 12 oz. each) plus 3 cats for a free gallon of milk each all for about $5.35?

Im now the proud owner of 20 boxes of Kelloggs Corn Pops and 6 free gallons of milk that I can pick up as I need Big Grin .

pierogies are a Polish food......

wikipedia sayes:

Quote :
North America
Pierogi are widespread in Canada and the United States, having been popularized primarily by Slavic immigrants. They are particularly common in areas with large Slavic-derived populations, such as Chicago, western and northeastern Pennsylvania, the provinces of Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Toronto, Ontario. Pierogi at first were a family food among immigrants as well as being served in ethnic restaurants. In the post-World War II era, freshly cooked pierogi became a staple of fundraisers by ethnic churches.

By the 1960s, pierogi were a common supermarket item in the frozen food aisles in many parts of the United States and Canada. Pierogi maintain their place in the grocery aisles to this day.

Numerous towns with Polish or Ukrainian heritage celebrate the pierogi. The city of Whiting, Indiana celebrates the food at its annual Pierogi Fest every July.[7] Pierogi are also commonly associated with Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There is even a "pierogi race" at every home Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game, where four runners wearing pierogi costumes race toward a finish line. The word pierogi is also a feature of the local vocabulary of the Pittsburghese dialect. The village of Glendon in Alberta, Canada erected in 1993 a roadside tribute to this culinary treat: a 25-foot (7.6 m) fiberglass perogy (preferred local spelling), complete with fork
