Just received word about 40 minutes from posting this and stopped by my local in Bay Area, CA. Looks like they have about 30's on hand in select warehouses.

If you're in the Bay Area, there's stock in Hayward, Redwood City, South SF (i think SFO), Almaden, and Automation.

Item Number: 763242

If you have a less experienced pallet like myself, Hakushu is very peaty and taste very similar to ardbeg or similar scotches. If you like something sweeter and smoother, you would like Yamazaki.

Just had my friend try the Hibiki for the first time yesterday. He actually loved it and thought he wouldn't cause he's a tequila guy.

Me, I'm a Hibiki guy through and through. Did a blind taste test and always picked Hibiki over the other 2. So you might like Hibiki right now. I will say, I would only buy a Hibiki 17 yr for the bottle not for the taste as its not much discernible from the NAS (Harmony).
Good luck getting aged Hibiki for a reasonable price. I went to some shops in Tokyo and they were selling it for 50k yen (about 500 bucks) and I can't seem to find anything online for less than $600-700

If you go back, try the top level of MITSUKOSHI Ginza store. They had a 18 yr yamazaki selling for $500. I regret not buying but that was 2 years ago. Of course, people went nuts over Yamazaki since then. There's also a wine store on the next street over that i buy from, but you'll need some japanese to ask for it.

Well, I like Lagavulin a lot so not really inexperienced in peaty malts ... rather the lack of character I found in Hakushu for my taste. I do love Balvenie as well, for its sweetness ... so pallet may be too confused?

I just picked up a bottle at my local ABC store here in VA. I went for a bottle of Blantons and saw one box of Yamazaki on a shelf. Unfortunately, no Costco price . Retail of $99.99 for me.

$100 is a good price for Yama 12 in my books. Well below the market value from private sellers

I am new to this thread. IS there a particular cycle when Costco will have these in stock???

I am new to this treasure hunt and would love to get my hand on 1 of the Yamazaki.

I just saw a few Hibiki Harmony in Costco (Orange County, SoCal) last week (before they ran out).

Thanks guys.

I can only speak for Costcos in Houston and Austin, TX area

They have been out of Yamazaki for a long time, some Costcos will get a bottle or two near Christmas time for holiday special, but that's about it.

They had Hakushu 12 (as highly regarded as Yamazaki 12) until around Sept/Oct 2019, and then it's been OOS since, and now the only Suntory I see is Toki, which according to someone I spoke to is a $15 whisky selling for $30-40, and the Hibiki is a $70 whisky selling for $40 ish.

The 12 years or older Yamazaki/Hakushu are harder to get, and I have been seeing the non-aged ones (simply Distiller's Reserve) going for $80-90 lately.

The Hibiki in Costco (OC) is running $59.99 + tax.

I was able to score a Hakushu 12 and a Yamazaki 12 for $100+ tax each.

Now, I'll be looking for a Yamazaki 18. What's the ideal price range for this?

Hakushu 12 at Costco in San Francisco, CA. $99; 1 per member. Looked like less than 5 left.
