Saw a new sign at Walmart that looks pretty interesting. There's no dates on it, and I can't find any info on the deal anywhere which tells me that someone probably screwed up and put the sign out too soon....but anyway.

Seems like a pretty good deal for AT&T network:

$50/mo. but $40 with autopay:
- UNL Talk & Text
- 25GB High Speed Data then 2G
- Hotspot included
- Mexico and Canada roaming included

2 lines would be $70, 3 lines would be $100, 4 lines would be $120, and 5 lines would be $140.

Looks like this deal is only at Walmart - everywhere else has 16GB data offer and it requires autopay. This offer looks like it doesn't require auto-pay.

Sooo I called 611 and was told the promotion would be forfeited if I port in now. Agent said I have to wait until the next billing cycle to port in. He said he tried porting the number twice and the system said that.

Wtf.. that makes no sense

Like many of you, I also received 8gb of bonus data rather than the expected 17gb. I spoke to several supervisors and the incompetence is mind blowing. The last supervisor I spoke to had the only explanation that made any sense. She said that during the first month the data is applied in stages. First you will receive 8gb of bonus data, then within 10 days you will receive the difference to give you the total 17gb of data. Subsequent months should see full 17gb applied within 3 days of plan renewal. We shall see.
I don't believe this is correct.
I activated several accounts simultaneously. A few got the 25GB, while all others got the 16GB.

This is 3 days after activation.

This is completely absurd.
I have a pending port in from ANVEO into ATT.
I too only have the 16GB.
I have a ticket open, hopefully they get everything sorted out in 3-5 days.

Exactly. I mean I would be happy with 16GB for now as long as the rest of the bonus data is added later. Sounds like their billing/account system is a sh*t show. I'm going to call the actual port center now and see what they say.

Yikes, what a mess. Was considering jumping ship from the T-mo 5GB/100 min. for $30 prepaid plan, but I'm gonna sit this out until they sort it out.

I must have missed it, but when does the Walmart 25GB promo end?

So they are saying porting in now would forfeit the promotion because my actual phone number is from the Austin market and the number assigned during activation is from the Houston market and their system is market sensitive. So now I'm trying to see if they will change the 'Walmart' number to an Austin market number so both numbers are in the same market before the port is done so I can keep the promotion.

What a hassle

I think it's just a lazy rep giving out inaccurate information.

Could be. On the phone with them now but if they can't do anything, I will just count the $75 I spent as a loss and stick with T-Mobile. Meh

I have an open escalated ticket with a supervisor, expecting a response within 5 days.
If they don't rectify the situation, I may need to look into taking the issue higher.

I spoke with a supervisor and was told the same thing again... since the two numbers are in different markets, I would lose the bonus 17GB if I port in now.

She said I have two options:

1. Continue "enjoying" my plan this month with the bonus data and let it expire then purchase the Walmart deal again and activate the phone with an Austin number.

2. Port in now and lose the bonus data.

Screw that and screw AT&T. I'm pretty sure the "numbers in different markets" thing wasn't mentioned in the fine print.

I'm assuming the people not having issues have their actual and temporary numbers in the same market(?)

Just wanted to comment. I do work the big blue globe (corporate). The vailidity of the plan is as follows.

For Corporate Stores (8GB + 8GB):
- Autopay is required
- After 7-10 Days (first month activation) you will recieve the bonus data.
- After 3 days of each renewal date (autopay must be on) you will recieve the bonus data.

"Requires activation & payment of new line of service on $50 monthly plan and AutoPay enrollment by 7/11/19. To receive bonus data each month, you must remain on the $50 Monthly Plan and be enrolled in AutoPay. Once qualifications have been met, bonus data will be applied to customer's account within 3 days after activation and within 2 days after each qualified renewal. Multi-Line members are eligible as long as account owner is enrolled in AutoPay."

Walmart Exclusives (8GB + 17GB):
All requirements are not clearly stated. There is no internal document on this plan. I assume it would be the same requirements (autopay). However on att walmart's exclusive prepaid site it says you have to purchase a cell phone that is after 6/9/2019.

"Requires purchase of AT&T PREPAID phone & activation & payment on new line of service on $50 monthly plan. To receive 17GB of bonus data each month, you must remain on the $50 monthly plan and complete all requirements within 60 days of phone purchase. Once qualifications have been met, bonus data will be applied to customer's account within 10 days after activation and within 2 days after each qualified renewal. Multi-Line members are eligible."

Also a few points to point out:

If you are trying to change into this "walmart exclusive" plan i would suggest port your phone out to a different carrier. Buy a new phone from walmart and port your number back into AT&T prepaid so you can get this plan.

If you are currently on the 16GB plan i would suggest just keeping it no reason to waste your time with CS to get this walmart exculsive.

If you have an issue with your port Call the Port Activation Center at 888-898-7685.

Remember folks IT HAS TO BE A NEW LINE!

There are restrictions set by each martket area. Even though I work for the big blue globe my guess for the answer is the same as yours. However, in order to save you some of this headache. Port your orginal number to google voice or some other carrier and port it back in to replace the current active phone number with the 25GB plan. Then you can keep that plan instead and dont have to deal with a cross market move.

My original number is currently with T-Mobile so I don't think porting to google voice or another carrier would help(?)
