Saw a new sign at Walmart that looks pretty interesting. There's no dates on it, and I can't find any info on the deal anywhere which tells me that someone probably screwed up and put the sign out too soon....but anyway.

Seems like a pretty good deal for AT&T network:

$50/mo. but $40 with autopay:
- UNL Talk & Text
- 25GB High Speed Data then 2G
- Hotspot included
- Mexico and Canada roaming included

2 lines would be $70, 3 lines would be $100, 4 lines would be $120, and 5 lines would be $140.

Looks like this deal is only at Walmart - everywhere else has 16GB data offer and it requires autopay. This offer looks like it doesn't require auto-pay.

Call AT&T porting center and ask them to do a port to replace your walmart number. It should not affect the current plan you activated Walmart phone number. Tell them the website errored out and never gave me the port in option.

I did. They couldn't help. They said could do a number replacement but it would forfeit the promotion. The surpervisor said the same thing.

Does ATT throttle hotspot speed? I believe Verizon does on their prepaid and I'm not too happy after leaving ATT postpaid. It's okay for now but I wouldn't mind full 4G speed hotspot and 25GB (although 15GB from Vz is fine, I use about 12-13 a month).

I think what they are trying to say is that they do not know if the system will recognize the promotion if the number has changed. My guess is the bonus data promotion is assigned to the specific phone number upon activation. If the number changes in the system it "might" remove the bonus data because it is no longer the same number, but even though it is the same "activated" line. The internal system is what me and cs reps can NOT see. I am guessing that is why the supervisor is telling you to get another phone and port in through the site correctly or else the risk is losing the bonus data.

You should get the full speed up to 25GB. They usually want you to use up all your data.

Yikes, what a mess. Was considering jumping ship from the T-mo 5GB/100 min. for $30 prepaid plan, but I'm gonna sit this out until they sort it out.
E AT&T Contractor, they never gonna be able to sort it out and it's not the employees fault the systems are completely jacked up with mergers and band aid over band aids, without ever actually making any attempts for a clean consolidation. Don't expect anything good to happen if anything goes wrong, they won't be able to fix it, because they wont be even able to find where the problem is.

Ok I see. So essentially, I would have to buy a new Walmart phone and pay for the 8GB plan again, right?

If the solution to getting 25gb is to buy another Walmart phone, and activate that on the existing prepaid line, wouldn't that technically not qualify for the promo since it's not a "new" line anymore?

i think what is important is to activate the IMEI of the phone and the ICCID (sim card #) included with the phone.

Is it better to do that online or via in an at&t store?

Full-speed Hotspot even if I roam in Canada and Mexico?

T-Mobile would only allow up to 5GB of full-speed hotspot in Canada and Mexico.

I'm assuming the zip code you enter determines the market of the phone number you get during activation...

So those who got 8GB instead of the anticipated 17GB are getting jerked around. When I called customer service they weren't even aware of the Walmart/AT&T 25GB promo. I had her Google it and she basically had me on hold for 15 mins while speaking to tech support. Came back on and said my phone is a Walmart phone and everything checked out. Said not to freak until the full 10 days were up. HAH.

All kinds of hassle on this deal.

at&t stores wont activate this walmart exclusive plan for you (we went in and they advised they don't do it) - do it at walmart or online.....
