Saw a new sign at Walmart that looks pretty interesting. There's no dates on it, and I can't find any info on the deal anywhere which tells me that someone probably screwed up and put the sign out too soon....but anyway.

Seems like a pretty good deal for AT&T network:

$50/mo. but $40 with autopay:
- UNL Talk & Text
- 25GB High Speed Data then 2G
- Hotspot included
- Mexico and Canada roaming included

2 lines would be $70, 3 lines would be $100, 4 lines would be $120, and 5 lines would be $140.

Looks like this deal is only at Walmart - everywhere else has 16GB data offer and it requires autopay. This offer looks like it doesn't require auto-pay.

Can you merge multiple lines immediately or do you wait for the 17gb to show? Do you get multi--line discount the 1st month when you merge or is every line $40? With 6 lines it makes a difference whether I stay with postpaid.

I think AT&T is starting to see the sh*t hit the fan. When I called CS yesterday, she was very quick to tell me to wait the entire 10 days and didn't want to listen to anything I had to say. Needless to say, I rated her very poorly when AT&T sent me a text rating my call with her.

At least ATTCares on twitter tried to help me. They weren't able to make account changes for the bonus data, so they referred me to the CS number.

I think CS is stalling now until they find a fix for the issue.

You can return the Walmart phone without the SIM? I got shafted with 16GB only and my 10 day deadline is today. Doubt the right promo is going to magically appear by tonight. I didn't port my number but swapped SIM within few minutes of activation. That's prob where I went wrong.
honesty i don't think the walmart employees care whether the sim is in the phone or not.

The sim is useless to them once activated plus I paid for a month of service. Even if they wanted the sim back, I could simply go by ATT store and say I lost phone and get a new sim provioned to my account for free. The Walmart rep took the sim out of the phone and gave it to me without my asking(I would have). I reset device but left it active with the sim in case they wanted to try and help me.

So how do I do this... Start a new line/account with phone purchase at Walmart. Then I can port my current ATT line into that account and then cancel the one that was opened?

Currently everyone should assume if you are porting you will no longer be able to get this plan. I use Google voice, ported my # over to it years ago. I've had the same number for 18 years, and the phone number attached to the carrier I could care less about.

But there are some people reporting that they ported their number & got the 17GB bonus data and even some have reported they got a new number & did not get the bonus data although there appears to be less of those. But it does seem to be a total crapshoot & AT&T prepaid is clearly a mess.
I have a few thoughts. I wonder if activating over the phone if you are porting a phone number would be better than activating on their website? Because I know for certain that AT&T's online prepaid activation does not have the option to port a number, you can only choose a new phone number. Maybe it has something to do with porting after setting up the account & getting a new phone number? I have no idea, just thinking out loud.

What I understood from the last supervisor I spoke with is the port has to happen before the plan is funded. So either

1-call in and have them port initially without ever getting a temp number
or
2-activate the line, then call porting department at 8888987685 (not regular CS) and have them port your number. You may need to wait a bit to let port go through, then fund the plan.

I'm thinking Google Voice may be the answer. I've used GV for years but always with a secondary number, maybe that should be my primary and I would not be hostage to these cell providers. It works great nowadays, better in some cases(texts with large attachments)

I may try one more time in a couple weeks. I'm thinking this promo will not end before July 11 but has anyone heard a firm end date?

If this link works, you should be able to pick from any of these phones.

Looks like it was an issue using my cell phone - I can see everything via desktop. Thanks!

Of all the places Ive ever shopped ANYWHERE, Ive never seen such a lazy bunch of more incompetent worthless employees as I continuously encounter at the Walmart electronics departments. They must all be under strict orders to act as stupidly as possible to dissuade customers from buying their products. And judging by the comments of others standing in line to be helped, its a unanimous sentiment shared by the masses.

So if I get in on this deal and things go south, can I take my phone to any AT&T store and ask for assistance? Or will have have to return to Walmart and deal with another one of their brainless cretins?
