Sucralose and other artificial sweeteners can cause gas, cramping, bloating, and loose stool. It obviously varies with the quantity consumed, your general gut sensitivity, and likely your microbiome. Basically these sugar alcohols are poorly absorbed by your small bowel. They remain osmotically active, drawing water into your small bowel and colon. The increased distension of the viscera causes peristalsis/cramping. A little bit is metabolized by your colonic bacteria to gas or other products
The same can also hold true for lactose (depending on how much lactase is expressed on your small bowel villi). Whey protein concentrate has more lactose than whey protein isolate.
There have also been links with artificial sweetener consumption causing shifts in the microbiome to one which is pro inflammatory that can lead to the metabolic syndrome (diabetes, high blood pressure/cholesterol, central obesity). There was a big article in Nature a few years back on this.
Eggs: $0.10 per egg, 70-80 cals 7g protein (average). So for 3 eggs, $0.30, 210 cals 21g protein
While it is cheaper, it is also more calories and less protein. Also requires cooking.
Chicken: $0.75 per qtr pound, 120 cals, 22g protein (perdue frozen chicken breast). Bit more expensive than the whey protein and also requires cooking, something most people have little desire to do.
Peanut butter: $0.53 for 3 servings (based on $2.48 16.3oz jar), 570 calories, 21g protein. Lots of calories, lots of fat.
You see, some people may like to eat protein powder because it allows them to consume 20+ grams of protein while only adding 120 calories to their caloric intake. It is also easy to add a scoop of protein to a shake or beverage and take it to go in very few minutes, something those other options do not have the luxury of doing.

Otherwise a good deal if you want stomach cramps and bloating from sucralose and artificial flavors. This ON stuff made me so sick and I tried two of the most popular flavors.
If sucralose gives you stomach cramps you may want to see a doctor or something. I've taken ON for years and never had an issue
Plus you have to pay tax because it's direct from Amz instead of a third-party merchant.
