Are you able to use the Paypal at Target CheckOut. For me it says "Paypal is not available".

Quote from stupidngenius :
Similar experience when I was porting from sprint. Getting a CSR was a pain but once got hold of one and gave the sim number everything was completed in 5-10 min. She asked me to wait until she processes the payment info but I told her that I have refill cards and I would do it online (at this point I was able to log in at https://www.paygonline.com). A little later, ATT tried to charge my card (given at the time of paying for the sim) for $301.5 but it did not go through as I had locked the card in the morning expecting this. Then I went to Target website and bought 6, $50 cards for $270 with paypal+discover (5% back), effectively making it $256.5. It took about 30 min to get the pin from Target and once loaded everything worked fine.

Edit: Prepaid data speed (4-5Mbps down) is much slower than my postpaid speed (40+ Mbps). It was the same experience across different devices.

I plan on getting the 4 phone BYOP plan for my family. Does anyone know if this offer is better or should I go with the offer made to me that we each get a free iPhone 7, but have to agree to 30 months of service. Any thoughts on this?

I was able to switch from postpaid (individual line) to this prepaid offer and kept my existing number thanks to reps in loyalty and prepaid departments.

1. I called 611 & asked for loyalty department. Told the rep about wanting to switch to this prepaid offer and keeping my number.

2. Loyalty Rep successfully changed my account to prepaid, but she wasn't able to add this plan since it's an online only offer. She said my account is left as default ($2 plan) and I would need to go online to order this plan. (My existing number and SIM card remain the same. )

3. I called 611 again. Since my account was already switched to prepaid, it automatically went to prepaid department. I told the rep that I wanted this plan. She added the plan for me and said the process will be completed once the amount is paid in full. Payment can be done over the phone or online.

4. Once I submitted the full payment, I received a text from at&t that my plan charge was successful. Smilie

Thanks OP and everyone here for sharing.
Thanks. I hope to replicate this.

For me ... Target checkout page says "Paypal Not Available"? Did they change anything or is there a trick?
There was no trick. It is possible Target has changed its payment policy.

I think I got order status email (with new phone number) within one hour. Sim card was delivered next day.

When you place the order, even though at checkout, it shows the $305, you will only get charged for the SIM card. The SIM card should arrive rather quickly in 3-5 days. From there, pop the new SIM card into the phone you plan to use. Go online to the ATT prepaid login and click forgot password. For the phone number, either use the number you have transferred or the new number you got. Your phone will get the temp password and you can log in. Once in your account, add the prepaid cards. Once there is $300 worth of prepaid cards, the plan will activate. *that was the process I encountered a few days ago
Despite all that, did they charge your CC for the remaining balance nonetheless? I know they put a hold on the remaining $300+taxes and are ready to charge onto the same CC once activated. Another poster admitted AT&T charged his CC a few days later even after paying with the prepaid cards but he told his CC issuer it was a fraudulent charge to stop the payment. But, I'm now wondering if his plan will somehow get auto deactivated for non-payment since the system was setup to bill the CC on file only and if it fails AT&T put in basic business logic that the account is past due even though he may have funded it via alternative ways.

I did what users here stated. Bought the cards at Target...$300 worth. Logged in to my prepaid account and added them to the account. Next morning I get a text that my account had been activated and my CC charged $320.97.

How this happened is beyond me since I never technically hit any activation anywhere. I guess once you sign up they assume you're activating. My advice would be to call AT&T instead and have them process the prepaid cards. I personally used 6x$50 prepaid cards.

I did call them back and they said they would process the refund to my cc. I logged back onto my account and did see right after that they had used my prepaid funds now. I'm just waiting for my refund now. Just did it yesterday, so I assume I'll get it back no later than Monday.

If you run into this same problem, you can call the billing dept at 866-608-3007. But as stated, I advise you to call AT&T itself to activate it using the prepaid cards to prevent running into issues. I'll update this post once I get my refund. But I'm certain that won't be an issue.

UPDATE: Technically, I did not get a refund. The charge just never posted to my account and is no longer pending. So, more like a stop charge.

my only fear with calling ahead is that they will tell me this deal is only for credit card payments and not prepaid cards. i think it is one of the terms (may be im mistaken, someone can confirm).

Right! Exactly why I posted the question. Using prepaid cards might throw the entire business logic behind the automation off and you'll likely encounter weird issues with the account as there are a lot of database triggers that execute on the back end when all done automatically. When customer service overrides some things manually, it will leave the account in a non-compliant state so anything goes! Best of luck to those that used prepaid cards as this prepaid deal was not permitted to be funded with prepaid cards so do let us know what you encounter after the first 30 days.

I don't see that it is necessary to pay with a cc anywhere. In fact, I believe I tried to set up autopay, but something along the lines that this does not qualify for autopay was shown in a message somewhere.

You could always just buy a $25 VISA gift card and use that I guess. Then pay the remainder with prepaid cards. It does state there are no refunds for those $300 dollars on this page after all. So, they may start refusing to refund your cc since it's part of the "terms." I'd go this route if I had to do it again.
