On top of 250 price cut, open box excellent reduces the price by another ~140. I ordered one yesterday and received it today.

At 412, this is a really good "tablet chromebook" with excellent screen, dual USB-C and great sound. The keyboard cover can be found on ebay for 80.

Most of the "laggy" reviews were on Celeron model which was phased out. The m3, i5 and i7 offer very similar performance due to thermal throttling, making m3 the no brainer choice.

Google is bad at hardware. Bought their htc nexus 9 tablet back in the day. No longer charge and poweron only after 3 months of use. Also they abandoned all tablet efforts now. Not worth it.

Wasn't that made by HTC?

I'm looking to get a pixelbook and I know that the pixelbook 2 is rumored to be coming out soon so I'm expecting a price cut on the original model. Still, this seems like a good deal. I'm wary of the m3 processor though since I plan to use it as a laptop. On Geekbench the overall performance of the 8th gen i5 Pixel Slate barely beat the 7th gen i5 Pixelbook. Thermal throttle seems like it shouldn't be much of an issue for the i5 models and the m3 model is a half step in down direction so it raises some flags. 8GB of RAM is nice.

May be if someone exclusively works on browser likes it.. please go ahead
Agree, it is not far away from regular tablet, but very annoying because it doesn't support android apps well. Everything is so buggy and feels like after thought.

For me it's a full blown operating system that's safe, secure, fast, and efficient. Gone is the blue windows waiting for updates screen, the short battery life with fans running full speed trying to install updates, and the bloatware that comes installed. For me my Samsung Plus chromebook changed everything. I have a browser sure but I also have the play store as well for applications. Even though I can't download an exe file, I know I safe regardless of what file I do download. When I need windows, I Chrome Remote Desktop and access my desktop windows PC. Simple and saves me time. It's great for on the go and most college students. I was just like you. I dissed ChromeOS until our company started shifting over a little bit. But for the price and the convenience I think it's great for 90% of us. Not everyone is a graphic designer or video editor or PC gamer. That's who this is aimed for. I personally think that ChromeOS is revolutionizing the PC industry. It's crazy to see how big it's growing. I see it used in museum kiosks, Costco's online order computer, my eyeglass place, and even my company. It's truly changing how we as individuals perceive computers.

As for this machine. I think it's the worst that anyone could buy for the money. There have been so many issues concerning thermal management and lag. As Marques Browlee said there shouldn't be so much lag on a device with these specs. I think you money is better off being spent on a Samsung chromebook Pro or Hp x360

Saw in a review that the Chrome OS on this is a bit confusing and not great to use. Anyone had experience with one?

I'm thinking this or the Samsung S4 at 400 (or better if I can find for less too I guess).

Pass, your better off with a pure android tablet, and for this price you can get an excellent one.
