This is a really neat idea. Good on T-Mobile for offering this. I tried them before, but had to get service to test for a month. Coverage was poor so cancelled before month was up. Had to pay for service, but was happy to learn T-Mobile in my area kinda sucked. Now people can try for free. Good on you T-Mobile.
Found this.

You can sign up for T-Mobile Test Drive above — there is no need to visit a store. Then the T-Mobile Test Drive hotspot will be shipped to you for free and your trial will begin when you insert the SIM card into the hotspot device and activate it for the first time on the T-Mobile network.
Consider that I'm paying 115 for 9 lines all unlimited is an insane deal

Have you had a T-Mobile account in the past using that email address? Try using a different one.

Ok, I found this on Cnet. Don't know if this is true. Guess the device will self-deactivate after 30 days.

When you're done with the hotspot, which will stop working once the 30 days are up or once you hit the 30GB cap (whichever comes first), you can return it to a T-Mobile store, give it to a friend -- who can request a different SIM card and start a separate test -- or just keep it.

That's weird. You can try contacting T-Mobile support via Twitter @TmobileHelp and see if they can sign you up manually.

I was just thinking about switching from Verizon to T-Mobile. This is great so I can confirm the coverage is the same before jumping ship. Sad to give up my grandfathered plan on Verizon, but it costs too much and I don't use over 10GB a moth and that is with my heavy use.

Is the SIM card compatible with phones if not activated on the hot spot? I can add a line without paying for $25 sim card fee?

How much is data only plan after the 30 days is up?
found it
https://www.androidauthority.com/...ns-791297/

"The cheapest is $10 a month for 2GB of data, and it goes up to 6GB if you pay $25 a month. $40 a month gets you 10GB, $55 a month offers 14GB and $70 a month will give your hotspot access to 18GB. Finally, the most expensive plan gives you 22GB of data for $85 a month."

Can you let it expire, then use it several months later for a month. I guess there must be an activation fee or new sim card fee.

https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/...lpad_surf/

edit 2: signed up. I wonder how long I can wait to insert the sim. Devices like this would be handy to have when I lose comcrap internet.

Been looking into getting a hotspot with just a little bit of data each month and t-mobile's 2GB for $10 is the cheapest I found. I never pulled the trigger because I didn't want to spend $72 on their newest hotspot that supports 600mHz. If they send a free coolsurf hotspot you get to keep, which it sounds like they are, then I probably will subscribe to their service and they will have made a customer out of me with this promotion.

I wonder if this would this work with a T-Mobile MVNO sim after the 30 days?
