No thanks. I was burned by AT&Ts grandfathered promo for Directv Now. Had a clause that basically said they could raise the rate when they wanted to.

5G won't have as much coverage area as LTE because of higher frequency band. We will have spots for 5G initially and then slowly cover block, street, town, city, state, and then whole country. Don't think because you hear 5G a lot means we are there, it's a really long roadmap which will take at least 3-4 years.

Of course they push for it. They make money off of it.
yes some new cars are sold at a loss to make up thru financing or deals like these. Key is to find those "loss leaders". Any insiders here in the new car industry?

Just FYI. If your non-GM car does not come with 'connected wifi' feature, then you need to buy a $79 Harman Spark OBD-attachment-device (from AT&T) and according to AT&T Connected Car Customer Service, the monthly rate then increases to $30 a month (not eligible for $15, if you are using Harman Spark).
I found that out as well. Pass for me.

My Range Rover have a T-Mobile sim in the car for the incontrol remote thing I think so this will swap it out or is a separate piece of hardware?
This shouldn't need a sim at all, since (I believe) you have in-vehicle WiFi. Here's the link you should use: https://www.att.com/plans/connect...rover.html

Waiting on 5G. Will have to upgrade hardware soon anyway.
That's not how 5G works unless you only drive in the middle of a metro area. It has a 500 meter range LOL. 5G is basically just wifi.

Bummer I was all set to purchase this and even convinced my wife as we have 2 kids and travel a bunch, however since we would have to buy the Spark device it doesn't qualify for the cheaper plan.... seems a bit backwards...

You know shit about 5g then.
5g is supposed to have excellent hand over that will be undetectable.
This aint 5g and 5g is a LONG ways away other than the center of big cities. The shorter range will mean many more towers need to be placed. I don't see 5g cover the entire country any time soon, if ever.
But this isn't for 5g.
In theory, yes. I will believe it when I see it
