No thanks. I was burned by AT&Ts grandfathered promo for Directv Now. Had a clause that basically said they could raise the rate when they wanted to.

5G won't have as much coverage area as LTE because of higher frequency band. We will have spots for 5G initially and then slowly cover block, street, town, city, state, and then whole country. Don't think because you hear 5G a lot means we are there, it's a really long roadmap which will take at least 3-4 years.

The benefit is for others to connect their gadgets and your laptop, iPad, etc. if you have a hotspot on your phone then this is redundant. Not everyone is capable of creating a hotspot with their phone though.
It's also nice to have a second network available as a backup in areas that generally don't have great reception. The car's antenna is also larger and outside.

Pretty sure the $10 version is if you've already got an AT&T account, and are on mobile share. For $5 more, you could see if you can set up a separate account to get the Unlimited. (Better yet, if your vehicle is OnStar-enabled, just press the blue button and ask for the deal.... don't even have to contact AT&T at all...)
i hate att account with mobley plan. i dont have car with onStar

What's the difference between OnStar and at&t?
Onstar is a backend telematics services offered by GM. AT&T is the carrier the GM use to execute those services.

Just think of your phone trying to reach a Google server. That google server here is the OnStar Backend. Your phone uses AT&T network to get to the Google server.

I'm getting offered a $10 plan (no explanation of what I get for it) and a $30 unlimited plan. Is there a promo code that can be entered?

If you purchase the adapter for older cars, would you have to insert a sim in it? like a broadband? if that is the case, the sim should work on tablets right?

Regardless, there aren't any vehicles that support 5G. Heck, there are barely any phones that support 5G.
