Dell is having a limited sale on their monitors including the new Alienware AW3420DW for $1000 + Tax & free shipping. (Normal is $1,500 + Tax)
Native 120 Hz refresh rate and is 34 inch gaming monitor with the full colors brought by IPS Nano Color (98% DCI-P3) technology and a 2ms response time. Featuring a 1900R WQHD resolution and 21:9 display ratio.
Biggest differences between this model an the older AW3418DW is the native 120Hz refresh rather than 100Hz OC to 120Hz found on the old, 98% DCI-P3 color, 2ms response time rather than 4ms, and an updated stand.
This price is less than the comparable Freesync LG panel.

Question. Is this still a good deal even without the 10% promo code discount?

Was close to grabbing a Samsung CRG90 here locally for $1k, but decided to pass. The prices keep on dropping on ultrawides, and the screen tech is rapidly maturing to eliminate previous caveats.
While I'm sure this is a nice display... I guess I'm not connecting the dots as to why it's worth $1k.
Yeah, it's 34", 3440x1440, G-Sync (Although preference would be FreeSync), and 120hz, but I see a lot of those specs on monitors in this segment at the $500-700 range.
Is that 2ms response and "Fast IPS Nano Color" worth an almost 2x premium? It's still an 8-bit panel (16.7 mil colors) and port selection is your standard I/O for this segment (HDMI 1.4 / DP 1.2).
I'm definitely not a HaRdCoRe gamer, and any improvement going sub 4/5ms is negligible and a non-factor for me. Guessing I'm not the target audience for this? Just found it odd that this has gotten mega hype comment wise, as it seems somewhat luke-warm and normal/non-special pricing in my mind?
Not trying to thread crap, just really curious is all, as I'm in the market to join the *Ultrawide Master Race*.
What's your 27inch model ?
Any idea how consoles play on these ? Does it keep it wide or?
A fan of the new Alienware Legend design language.
Now just got to sell my 2017 version a recoup some of the costs.
