ya, that thread is few month old and was dead for a bit?
I've had these speakers for 2 years as my rear to the 707's and 706. They sound beautiful but need some time to break in. On a side note they are very heavy speakers. About 30-40 lbs. The speaker stands I got are the Sanus 30" speaker stands. They are sturdy and have not wobbled once. Happy shopping

It's dead NOW. It was active for a while, then dead, then active again, and now... it's back here but for even less, I think. Wasn't it $479 in that other thread?

Ah. Maybe I was mentally adding tax. Smilie

But either way this speaker is no longer listed at the top of that thread, for some reason.

Amazon wants about this price for a single speaker. Sounds like a great deal for the pair!

Would I be wasting my money on these if I ran them on a ~$300 Onkyo receiver?

I would say so. I would recommend waiting on a deal for the Klipsch RP-600M which are more efficient.

Is $300 the MRP of the receiver or the price you paid from a slick deal?

How do these compare to B&W 606s?

Can you tell me how the speakers attach to the stands? Is there some type of screw system or are they held by gravity?

Mine are still in the box (waiting to move before I set them up).

The only thing holding me back is that I can't find the appropriate center channel, the 704c, available anywhere for a reasonable price. Hmm...
