There is another good deal on Costco worth to take a look.
https://www.costco.com/dell-inspi...8499.html#
This is Inspirons 5000 series, which is much better than 3000 series.

Bought both $279.99 HP and this $399.99 Dell, both give excellent values given the price. Couple things I like better in this Dell one:
* way better built quality
* 2-in-1 touchscreen (comes handy once a while)
* fingerprint sensor (one touch to login)
* USB-C power charging and display capability
* support both M.2 and 2.5" (according to Dell website)
* better touchpad
* better headset audio quality
* noticeably better video quality than HP one (more detail and dynamic), not sure if it's due to graphic card or display
* fan runs quieter

Things better in HP:
* $120 cheaper
* lighter (3.24 vs 3.81)
* better CPU processing power (haven't notice the difference for my normal usage)

Both are good laptops. I think this dell one is worth $120 extra, if you find useful of those additional features.
The Dell also has 4GB more RAM and an extra USB port. Also, it's SSD is NVMe while the HP uses a SATA drive.

I just ordered it through their website and will be delivered in 2-3 days. Any chance I can figure out the processor (i3 vs i5) on this laptop without opening up the box? Hopefully it's i5 and not too late in the game? Does it also have touchscreen? For all the pros out there, Do you guys recommend getting extended warranty on this laptop through square trade or just use it for 2-3 years and throw it away if something happens to it? BTW I bought it using my Citi-Costco card. Thanks
1st question, it will be stated on the outside of box.
2nd question : no touchscreen
3rd question no since you got citi card which gives you 4 years of warranty!

Please get 16 gb stick here so you can utilized full range of memory since win 10 needs at least 16 go minimum.

https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Si...ics&sr=1-1

This way if you feel the need to get another 16gb then you can later on. And for the most part this will be suffice and gives you a total of 20 gen of ram!

Did you read what Nitrohamster posted? That's why I asked if he actually ordered the laptop posted here. If he did, then he's one of the very few people who've mentioned getting the i3 instead of the i5. If he didn't, then he ordered a similar laptop that actually has the i3 and he needs to order from the link in the OP to get the i5 or look for the correct item number (#1371252) in Costco.com.
I'll have to check. But I did end up getting the i3 processor instead of the i5. It also says i3 on the side of the box. Perhaps I'll trying ordering another one and return the one that I got and see if I get better luck.

I know everyone is saying there's little difference between i3 and i5, but I'd still prefer getting the better processor, despite very minimal improvement in performance. I'm pretty happy even with the i3, and it somehow beats the pants off an old i7 that I bought about 8-9 years ago. Haven't bought new tech in a long time, and am often pleasantly surprised at how nice new computers, smartphones, and cameras perform. Typically use products until they are truly dead in the water.

I've been following this thread out of curiosity and just wanted to address your third point - Citi's card only covers what the manufacturer's warranty covers. Squaretrade notably covers drops and liquid spills, which most manufacturers don't. As such, if you get water damage on your laptop and don't have Squaretrade, you're SOL. Probably not worth it for a device this cheap, but it's a good piece of info to know for larger purchases.

You probably bought the older version of this laptop. The 2018 version. Let us know what the model number of that one is, or include a picture of the side of the box with the specs.

Then you better return it and head over to a costco near you then!

Dude, you're good. I just ran it gain with a single 16GB stick and the CPU mark came at 8881. I've just ordered a second 16GB chip and will test it again on Wednesday with the whole thing in dual channel
Added a screenshot of my Pass Mark score. That is 20GB Ram (added Crucial 16GB 2666) and with a 1TB Intel 660p NVMe drive.

I just tried to install a second HDD but the cable from the previous gen doesn't fit the socket provided. Any idea what this socket is for?
There is a video out there somewhere, in a language that's not English, of another spec of this laptop with the same chassis and case. In the video, I think that port leads to a fingerprint reader that's mounted beneath the palmrest.

I made this video that shows the upgrade process if it helps you. Also has a link to the RAM that I have installed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkDt8OLS5Yw
