Is it because the version I installed is 1909?

The drivers from HP is supported with 1903.
See my post here, it can be tricky due to S mode: https://slickdeals.net/f/13524451-costco-members-hp-14-laptop-i3-1005g1-4gb-ddr4-128gb-ssd-win-10-s-280-free-shipping?p=131725705#post131725705

You may also want to try to use the HP Support Assistant software to help the drivers, someone else had mentioned using that to make the driver installation easier.

you dont make sense actually. it will be surprising for anything to beat this for the price unless its a price mistake.

and why do need $100 to upgrade? not everybody is you. for many people the default 4GB setup is fine. and if you really want 8GB, youo can get the matching stick for $12 shipped and it will be dual channel

the only things youll be seeing for $300 are i3-7th gen cpus. or ryzen 3s. im willing to say even next year an i5-10thgen 14" laptop is unlikely to hit $280. remember 14" is a big deal. anything bigger than 14" actually makes the laptop cost LESS.
Trust me,with 4gb ram it will hang if you open few tabs of chrome browser or open ms office to edit, unless you tweak it like a geek but as you said every one is not like that. It is a deal but not a killer deal that people should regret if they miss it.

I'm not sure but I have this feeling that the longer the system stays on, the lower the scores. I did mine first thing after booting. Could that explain your results?

WIckedNews, please don't become FIakedNews. The screen is 14 inches, no matter what that screen is saying.

Lol prob means total display screen instead of total screen size.

Why people are all over for this laptop, can't we get this kind online deal(around $300 with tax) around bf ? And if you upgrade, it will cost you at least $100 more, doesn't make sense to me.
Please try to find the
lastest 10th gen i5 with g4 cpu
Backlit keyboard
14 inch IPS screen with resolution of 1080p
And only 3.2 lbs
Under 300 bucks!

I understand that this laptop has the latest i5-1005G4 CPU.

Can anyone provide any real world comparison with actual programs with the i5-1005G1 CPU vs the i5-1005G4 CPU?

Well I switched out of S mode to Win 10 before doing a re-installed Windows 10 to get rid of all the bloatware and drivers.

I am able to download some of the drivers such as touchpad (finger scrolling doesn't work though) and wifi driver.

Are you saying I should install the drivers on a different computer and copy the installation folders to my USB and then transfer it to the HP laptop?

Are you now on a clean install without wifi? And unable to install the drivers (formatting takes you back into S Mode, that was my experience)? If so, yes.

And the b&m model is an i5 or? Curious, since the model on the price tag refers to the i3. Are the laptop boxes shown next to the laptops, or do you have to buy it first to know whether you got the i3 or i5 version?
While I was at Costco one of the employees said they printed it as i3 instead of i5 and Costco didn't want to correct it. But it doesn't matter as the label on the box shows i5, so its confirmed. While I got one laptop, there was another guy who snagged two. They still had plenty left (Mall of Georgia Costco).

Anyone wonder what happens if you try to do a warranty repair and your receipt says i3 while the laptop is an i5?
Huh? They will know no one put a new cpu on it!
