Surface Pro 7 is much faster but if you like the Apple eco system and are just going to use the MacBook lightly for general use then the MacBook is for you.

I bought the 16gb 512GB model of the MacBook Air and found it to get bogged down pretty fast. I don't think the processor is good for anything other than low-level things/one or two moderate tasks at a time. It's better using on a lap than the surface pro 7 though.

I had the same experience. I think I use my Ipad Pro 2017 for anything the MBA would be capable to handle. Really the IPAD is better since I have less concern for water/food/dust damage as I use it when in those environments.

With IPADOS and 3 tiers of ipads now, I wonder if this will be the last MBA.

Sad to say it should be much cheaper more so with 8GB ram and 128 SSD which apple now locks in place so you can't go in and slap in a 1TB SSD for 90 bucks, I guess they had to pay for the new campus somehow ..

I have a 2019 air with 256 and 8 gigs and it gets bogged by big stuff. I use it for college and basic home stuff. I don't know about new surfaces but I had a surface 4 model (8g/256) and the same thing happened. If you need something powerful-ish neither is a option.
